Two quality games last night and a horrible one. I don't think I have to point out which were which...
the Raiders Souths game wasnt really that bad, Raiders tried some things but just lacked the execution and Souths tried hard...

It is worse than I thought. I don't think he should be gone for the season. Maybe 6 weeks.
Having seen that incident again (Justin Smith pushing the Ref) he won't make back onto the field this season. He'll be cooling his heals for a very long time. I've never seen anything like that in professional sport in Australia.

I agree, if he gets anything less then the rest of the season he can count himself very very very lucky..

The League will not want it to be thought that a player can assault a referee like that and get off lightly.. Its not an image they will want to show kids therefore he will be made an example of, and rightly so..

Geez Peter Beattie was foaming at the mouth in today's paper, as was Trevor Gillminster about the fact that Sydney will host the NRL Grand Final and the NRL Board only think about themselves and Sydney, from NSW bias that it only suits them and we as Queenslanders are being given the impression that what we think doesn't matter. In that he talks about that the Broncos/Sharks weren't able to use 3rd party payments to re-sign Mat Rogers, Lote Tuqiri, and Wendall Sailor, but since the likes of Andrew Johns and Mark Gasnier are targets of the ARU, it is a different matter. I'm not sure about the relevance he is on about.

Also in the rants were that if the reason for hosting a night grand final was for business reasons, then they should just simply say so, if they think Telstra Stadium is the best venue to hold it, then say so to, then instead of giving us this "NSW is the true rugby league heartland" dribble.

Beattie was of the view that if they had know the rights to host the final were out then his government would do everything they could to secure a Grand Final up here.

Yeah - it wasn't a 'you're in my way, get out my way' push. Rather, it was a 'I'm frustrated and angry at you' push. I don't think we'll be seeing Smith play again this season. Wouldn't surprise me at all if he gets 20 weeks. Deserves at least that.

Everyone else who has played the game at that level has managed to exercise self-control, in regards to wanting to 'deal with' the Referee. Hell, even Tallis didn't touch Hollywood Harrigan went he sent him off for mere backchat at a crucial stage in an Origin game a few years ago.

I believe Matthew Ridge got 6-8 weeks when he was at the Warriors in 1999 or 2000 (I think) for touching a ref during at loss against the Tigers.

On the Grand Final, I dont believe it should be moved to QLD... The majority of teams are in NSW, and although i dont think thats the main reason i think its a fair one..

The AFL dont move their Grand Finals from Melbourne and they never get criticised so why should the NRL??

Yeah but with somebody like Trevor Gillminster he never misses a chance to have a dig at anything who wears 'Blue' and is much of a Queenslander as Andrew Johns is a Novacastrian or Steve Waugh is Australian.

Melbourne are capable of going all the way, but IMO like i said with the Cowboys a few weeks back, they seem to have peaked to early.. I dont think they can play a great deal better then they have, whilst other teams will improve...

Yeah I saw the front on angle for the first time today and although he didn't make much contact the look in his eyes told the story. He will be out for a long time...

Question I have, is Melbourne really premiership material
The Broncos and the Storm always seem to start well. The Storm have been very good and there is a lot to like about their outside backs as well as their hard working forwards but it is still too early to tell IMO.
