I don't know if anyone should be premiership favourites. I guess the only team I really fancied was the Cowboys, but after their loss to the Sharks I don't know what to think.
that was the sharks (finally) coming into form

P.S go da sharks

Penrith are morals against the Sharks this Friday night.

First game at home.

Penrith coming off two losses (means they will be super hungry)

Cronulla coming off a win against the Cowboys (may mean they are pleased with themselves).

Panthers have Priddis playing halfback, not sure i can say with as much certainty as you Greg that Penrith will win...

I follow the Roosters but I don't think there is any need to kick any teams out.
How would you feel if they kicked your team out of the comp?
Agreed and yet you have people on here who want Melbourne out despite the fact they keep on winning, making the finals (bar 01 and 02) and taken a premiership, which is a lot more then Souths have done. And the Storm were supposed to struggle and come last if you listen to some pundits on here because they lost Orford and Bell, and now they are in 2nd spot (albiet on percentages).

Priddis & Campbell > Dykes & Kearney though
Dykes is in good form in my opinion, and Campbell hasn't shown too much of his best form so far this season. Furthermore, Priddis isn't a playmaker and the halfback position will be tough for him.

In terms of Melbourne, the team is doing well but the club isn't. They are not producing any juniors within Victoria and have one of the smallest, if not the smallest, fan bases in the NRL.

Roberts in for the Roosters, 14 - 12.
Lucky that the Roosters are so close. They have been outplayed for most of the half.
Ryles may have a broken hand.
The Shane Bond of rugby league?

Inglis has also been named but ill be surprised if he plays...
How many men has he named on the bench? 7?

(sorry they never published the teams today for some reason)

Granted about that and I have been to Melbourne before so I know the scant coverage it gets in the Herald Sun (one page if that, but it is better then what union fans get), but I believe the Swans were in the same boat and they have worked, so why can't Melbourne?

Surprised nobody has mentioned that Shane Webcke is retiring at the end of this season which is good IMO as he is going out on top and not hanging on until he is a has-been loser living off his reputation.

Although it was never going to happen it would have been nice to comeback for Origin III last year.

I think Sydney is more accepting of other sports. There was always an interest in the VFL, even before South Melbourne relocated to Sydney. However, rugby league even nowadays is getting near to no coverage in Melbourne. I think the time will come in the next 3-5 years when the NRL will have to abandon ship if there is no improvement.
