For sure. You Australians are a rabidly patriotic bunch.
In other states however, Rugby League has the reputation of the bogans game for brainless idiots. While this is the situation of quite a few players, people from all class backgrounds in New South Wales support Rugby League. It's unfortunate that it has that sort of reputation.

Me too. Although I must admit there are a fair amount of bogans. Yesterday I went to see Manly and the Bulldogs and I sat behind two of the most foul mouthed women I have ever seen. They had no idea what they were yelling about, they were just yelling swearwords at players for absolutely no reason. It was disgraceful. Bloody Doggies fans!

North Sydney Bears rocked in the 1990's - Fairleigh, Florimo, Taylor etc.

Yeah I was a bears fan until the Warriors came along, although I was pretty young at that time. They were awesome. I hope we see the bears back if Central Coast get a side.

I loved going to North Sydney Oval every second week...It was such a beautiful ground and had such a brilliant atmosphere. I miss my Bears :( Oh well, no use crying over split milk. Come on you mighty Roosters!

They got completely screwed over by Manly IMO.

Couldn't you have atleast chosen a better team though? Like anyone other than the Roosters!

Haha, well it's a family thing. My mum and brothers supported the Roosters and I thought it'd be the right direction to take. Lucky me they made a premiership the first year I supported them. :)

I remember the golden days of the Bears in the 90s. I quite liked them, 3rd favourite team.

Matt Seers, Nigel Roy, Chris Caruana, Greg Florimo, Jason Taylor, Mark Soden, David Fairleigh, Billy Moore, Gary Larson, Jamie Goddard, Michael Buettner, Brett Dallas ...

Just to name a few.

What a great side they were...Good old Brett Dallas....I have an enormous poster with all their autographs on it. Better hold onto it as it could be worth a fair bit of money one day. As much as I loved Gary Larson it hurt my ears to hear him speak...

Norths were a joke and their inabilty to run their own business is what stuffed Northern Eagles not us. They deserve to be were they are and i hope they never comeback, an absolute joke of a club. If Central Coast ever want a side, they should take away all ties from Norths.

It can be argued that they couldn't run a business but to call the club a joke is ridiculous -- Norths had a very strong team in the 90's, they had the best stadium in Sydney where there were never, ever any crowd troubles and they nearly always made the 8...Hardly a joke of a team.

I never said the team was crap, i said the club was crap. Best stadium in Sydney, don't know about that maybe the worst is more accurate. It had a ok atmosphere, but it wasn't really a football ground, why too small to play football. No crowd troubles doesn't mean they have a good ground, just that there fans were real fans.

The atmosphere at North Sydney Oval was amazing...it was a brilliant football ground. Smaller grounds usually have a better atmosphere. I went to Telstra Stadium on Sunday and there was 16,000 people there but no atmosphere. The atmosphere is electric if you have 16,000 people in a stadium like North Sydney Oval.

Tharmi, give yourself an uppercut son.

North Sydney was an awesome club. On the field they were strong and had a good supporter base. Nth Sydney Oval was a great suburban rugby league ground with a great atmosphere and good views of the match. They had a fantastic plan to go to the Central Coast. However, the stadium was not ready in time (not their fault) and they lost a lot of money due to that. Then they merged with Manly, which went under because both clubs were not financially stable. Then, Max Delmege came along and said he would fund Manly if they stood alone. Manly got the NRL licence and Norths were gone from the NRL only to exist as a NSWRL club.

So as a Manly supporter, you should be ashamed to talk about Norths being a crap club when they weren't, and Manly themselves have a lot to answer for.

And which bloody genius dreamt of putting Norths and Manly together?! Norths fans hated Manly and Manly hated Norths! I'll never, ever forget during Manly's brilliant 90's era they played us at home one day and we creamed them...41-8 I remember the score was...all the Norths fans were over the moon, everyone ran onto the field and the security guys didn't care. It was the finest sight to see Manly belted by my Beloved Norths that day. It was not only special because of the Manly/Norths rivalry but also because Manly were almost seen as unbeatable back then. That was the best I've ever seen Norths play.

Don't be sad man. We won four titles in the 90s, how many did Norths win? We can let them have that one game :)
