Who is everyone picking to do well next year? I really hope the Warriors can pick their game up and start performing with some consistency, we have some big players like Wiki and Price and are starting to get some pretty useful homegrown talent like Jerome Ropati, Manu Vatuvei, Simon Mannering and co. Although I'm not a big fan since Stacey Jones left it would be great to see them do well.

If the attitude and committ are there then there is nothing stopping them. Sometimes I get the impression if the players even care because once their time is up at the Warriors they will go to some Super League to earn some good old British Pound.

A combination of losing 4 competition points and some close losses really hurt the Warriors this year. I reckon they deserved to make the eight on what I saw, but they paid for their inconsistency, inexperience, and breaching of the salary cap. Tipping them to have a good 2007.

Idiot - he just doesn't get it.

Anyway Steve Turner has been offered the chance to be let go after one season if he doesn't like it here (well it is said he has got a loan to buy a house here ) but if it goes to court then the offer will be withdrawn. And even if it went court and it was in favour of Turner the NRL still wouldn't register his contract anyway.

He would be idiot to not take it, especially with the offer put forward by Michael Searle. You have to give him credit for sticking to his guns and not backing down and letting him go because that is what would have happened under the past teams. And besides if he did let him go what sort of creditibility does it give them before a ball is kicked in ager? Teams would think they could walk right over them.

If he takes it to court and wins the NRL would have no option but to register his contract otherwise it would be a restraint of trade...

Wes has been charged with driving without a licence. I feel the Broncos will be tough to beat as will Storm and Bulldogs.

Prince and Bailey have been named co-captains for the Titans (although everyone probably had that worked out 6 months ago) and Steve Turner looks set to sit out for the next three years.

Moral of the story, think things through before agreeing to something.

Steve Turner says he hasn't signed anything, but his manager sent the Titans an email saying he would agree to the contract, that's good enough for me and I fail to see how a court is going to give a decision in Steve Turner's favour. He should just take the Titans offer of a one year deal. I don't think the Titans should just let him off, unfortunate but it's his own fault.

Interesting one. Over here a verbal contract is, strictly speaking, as binding as a written one. In practice they generally aren't tho because they can ultimately boil down to one person's word against another's, so they are easily deniable after the fact. Hence, I suppose, the old adage that a verbal contract is “worth the paper it’s written on”.

If it was Turner's agent rather than Turner who asserted his agreement he may have a case because he could say the agent was acting without his permission.

Is an email considered as a verbal contract though? Seems more of a binding agreement, from my little knowledge of Legal Studies at high school. Interesting if he did use the ploy of playing off against his manager.

Dunno. Grey area I suppose. I think a lot would depend on its wording; if it was something like " I can confirm Steve wishes to take up your offer" it's certainly secondary evidence of a verbal contract, which would support The Titans' case.

Well according to the NRL a verbal agreement is as good as a written one.

If he changes his mind though he will be forgiven and welcomed by the Titans.

I can't understand why the Titans think they have an aggreement with Turner, when he hasn't signed anything. Surely his not the first player or have his manager to say or email to a club that they wanted to sign for a club, but changed his decison. He never signed a contract. It makes no sence to me at all, surely you have to sign a contract and vebal or aggreement over the an email, isn't enough to warrant a contract.

This whole thing has never made sence to me from day one, how can you have a contract without signing anything. Personally i think Turner only stuffed up when, he said he changed his mind. He should have just said from day one, he never signed a contact. As by saying he changed his mind, he shwed he had an intent to sign an contact. I still don't think he should be forced to play for the Titans, if he never put pen to paper.

Ill be very surprised if he is forced to play for the Titans and likewise if he is forced to sit out...

This will go to court and and im sure he will win due to the fact he has not signed anything, thus allowing him to stay with the Storm... The NRL will then be forced to register him with the Storm..

Interestingly, Turner's manager always tends to sound more 'open' to the idea of him moving, and thinks that he'll move. Even though Turner continues to say he doesn't want to.

Maybe Turner's manager wants the little bit extra percentage from the GC offer...
