*Official* New Zealand vs Pakistan 2022/23

Where do you even start there? Insane narcissism from Babar. Traumatised by Bazball too. Would have been match fixing allegations if they did that in the 90s. And that was when they had good bowlers.

Probably the strangest declaration I can recall in test cricket - Pakistan gave themselves zero chance of winning but gave NZ a sniff of a chance.

Bizarre to say the least - did England's attacking play get in to Barbar's head and he felt he should go for an attacking declaration?
I didn't watch it,but everything seems ****ing bizarre to me.

The declaration obviously, giving Pakistan almost zero chance but us a bit. The fact Bracewell opened. The fact we seem to have taken the light chasing a target? I've got to be careful having not watched, obviously.

Has there been a cricketer in history, from any country, backed as hard to do key jobs like frontline/second spinner and pinch hitter like Bracewell, without any real justification?

I'm not sure they took the light, I didn't think it was offered to the batsman now anyway?
Latham seemed to be arguing it with the umps

The declaration was meaningless, with the history of the light the last few days and not even attempts with attacking fields etc it looked to be a distraction from another poor performance at home.....maybe, good luck reading his mind.
The umpires " take the light" now, Latham didn't seem to happy to be leaving the field.
To be fair to Bracewell- your right, but he has outdone himself in that regard. Yes the pitch was helpful but at times looked alot more threatening than spinners of the past in similar situations. But you wouldn't exactly say he "earned " his spot.

I thought it was pretty fun at the end. It seemed Alex Wharf was fine playing on - obviously a fan of bazball and boomboomball, whereas Aleem Dar was dead keen to make sure they went off for bad light.

I reckon Babar declared so he could claim it was another test match they had dominated.

Mate, I've been watching England for about 40 years, most of our players during that time fit that criteria.

That was the case I think, he clearly didn't back his spinners. The nz batsman were looking to attack and chase the target- Latham showed glimpses of his underrated attacking game, although his odi numbers show us that.
The fact that the nz spinners completely out bowled their Pakistan counterparts and the nz batsmen looking assured against them can't be hidden by a 'brave' declaration.
Pakistan will need to get better, quickly.

Dar is always keen to make sure as little cricket as possible is played.

pretty close game, better luck next time

just try batting with a bit more urgency, turn that 50 sr into 65, 3 rr into 4, its do-able for our guys on these surfaces.
