It's because they don't want batters to choose to stay on the field to try win a match and get hit in the head because it's dark. Same with not allowing players that have taken a head-knock in other sports to decide whether to play on or not.

Competitive game, both teams taking chances could've seen momentum swing during a lot of crucial moments. But you'd have to say the Pakistani bowling lineup has got to be seriously looked at before the next Test.
