2023-27 NZ is scheduled to play the 5th most tests behind the big 3 and surprisingly Bangladesh.
England 43, Australia 40, India 38, Bangladesh 34, NZ 32, SA 28, Pak 27, WI 26, SL 25, Afgh 21, Zim 20, and Ire 12
no way will afghanistan play those 21 lol and i reckon we'll turn more than a few into 7 match t20 series.

hm nah one of the most underrated fun things about rugby union is both teams can keep going if they want, most famously in the 90 minute bledisloe draw where both sides at turnovers just hucked it rather than kicked it out like cowards.

allowing organic play in the players hands makes for a more authentic sport imo. i wouldn't mind an ashes duel continuing into the dark if both sides were up for it.
i agree with you tbqh, but as the rule stands now it's a five day game and day means something other than calendar day

now if we're talking should the rule be changed, now that is different - but as the rule stands now i don't think either side can feel cheated as some have said. both dillied, and, no doubt, dallied at various points through the game, as is always done!

Safaraz such a **** keeper though. Fmd who knows how many runs he cost them this series with the gloves.

in saying that while my instinct was receptive to your mooted change to leaving it in the players' hands @Flem274* one thing i could see being problematic is i reckon you'd be pilloried by the gomer cricket watching laypeople and tabloid sports pages if you chose to call time for light when your counterpart was seeking to play on - and given that cricket's a nonlinear game, that expectation of play would favour the team in the better position, who has got comparatively less chance of losing by playing on. so maybe it's best to have some sort of objective, third party, who's there to call balls and strikes, a referee, of sorts, to make the decision instead. good people on both sides of the argument

nah it's beautiful. why does a game always have to end in a decisive result? a stalemate is what makes cricket so special
Yeah I get that but let's say you've got a Test match in your city , you take the family along with you , spend money on tickets, food etc .. Badlight means 5 overs are lost each day ...The match lasts 5 days and the same scenario we witnessed today plays out ...So you've been robbed 25 overs (Close to 1 session) of cricket from your hard earned money and no clear winner ...That doesn't sound beautiful to me! That sounds like unconditional love for a product that is heavily flawed .

if cricket was run by the papers we'd have tier systems and trades.

In this scenario the overs are not lost because of light, they’re lost because the teams don’t get the overs in within the required times. The only thing required to ensure a full game is just enforcement of the existing rules.

On reflection it really is disappointing what happened in the end, it could of been the greatest test of all time going into the final over with all 4 results
possible. Still, test cricket is far from dead and it's a game that'll be remembered for a long time nonetheless.

As good a year as it’s been for Blundell it’s been terrible for Ajaz. From taking 10 wickets in an innings to looking so bad on a day 5 wicket that his captain turned to a dollar store Kumble and a club-standard part-timer instead.
