*Official* New Zealand vs India Tests & ODIs

I noticed before the ODI's that Kaif averaged 45 with the bat & now after the NZ series he's averaging around 30.
I think thats a fair reflection of his ability & he was possibly overrated a little after his century in the Natwest final.
Just like Mathew Sinclair was...

Now, do I reply individually to every post from the Terrace element that criticised my prediction then, and predicted thinks such as 5-2 India, or a close series?!
hats off Marc - I for one did not think that NZ would dominate the ODI series (not that I consider myself part of the beloved 'Terrace Element')

once again work has prevented me from seeing anything of the match thus far.....

well done to the Kiwis for coming back after 2 defeats,
well done to Fleming for scoring runs at the Top,
still question marks over the selection of Cairns & Harris so high up the order, although I understand why Styris went in as high as he did - good job too....
well done to Adams for his come back after his wayward efforts last time out!!!!

so sad India......

:)

I think the averages tell a lot of the story for this series.

Sehwag 42.71
Das 30
Yuvraj 19.14
Dravid 16.57
Zaheer 14.8
Laxman 13
Patel 13
Ganguly 8.28
Kaif 7.85
Mongia 4.66
Ajit 2.00
Bangar 2.00
Tendulkar 0.67

Oram 41
Vincent 40
Bond 31
Styris 30.67
Fleming 26.16
Astle 24.6
Sinclair 24.33
Adams 18.5
Cairns 16.33
McCullum 12
Mills 8.67
McMillan 7.75
Harris 0.5

Only Sehwag contributed to a large extent for India, whilst the Kiwis put little partnerships together and, like in the tests, showed application.

Bowling wise... (6+ wickets)
Adams 9.33
Oram 15.75
Styris 16.16
Tuffey 18.08
Mills 21.22

Srinath 11.16
Zaheer 25.80

And no other Indians bowled competently. Not looking good for the WC...

Marc - find us some of the posts decrying a possible 5-2, would you?

He didn't get 100 in the Natwest Final. He scored one later in the year, though who it was against I cannot remember.

I find it quite bizarre that Mathew Sinclair, once a player put on the reject pile by the selectors, has managed to average the highest of any of NZ's batsmen since September last year.

Im slightly concerned about Shane Bond, he appears to be having a few fitness & illness problems at the moment & he didn't feature on NZ's bowling averages that Neil posted. For NZ to have a crack at at least making the semi's, Bond has to be on form.

Can't be bothered to to be honest - but there was a bit of an outcry from certain members who've now gone very quiet.

so Rik, according to your analysis and deduction, England should win their next match now that India has lost, right?:P

Well if they actually bring in Hollioake and stop playing Irani when he's so obviously out of form, then they will be much closer to winning.

These averages are shocking! I knew India were struggling badly but Zaheer Khan averages better than the sum of Tendulkar's and Ganguly's averages!!

Admittedly, Sachin was absent for all but 3 games but Ganguly has no excuse. As the captain of the team he scored 58 runs in 7 innings and 23 runs in one of the innings!! That's horrendous.

Can't believe Tendulkar averaging 0.67!!!
I'm sure Sachin will make amends in the WC, and the pitches in the WC would hopefully be much better than the one India faced in NZ.

A few responses to Marc's 5-2 prediction:

Anzac
While I'd love to see that I can't see it happening just yet........

vandemataram
5-2 to NZ   very unlikely!

Neil Pickup
You could have got much longer odds on WI winning 4-3 in India... I say NZ narrowly.

James
I think India will take the series 5-2. Without Cairns/Harris and Adams we'll really struggle.

warrioryohannan
Its funny in that Kiwi fans thinks that India will win the Oneday series but English fans are cetain that India will lose the series rather badly :saint:

Thanks for clearing that up Neil. I think a few people need to either explain themselves or just keep quiet...
