Hitchcock is looking pretty handy really in ODIs. Why isn't he given more FC oppertunities? He's got an outstanding Domestic OD record.

You'd have to ask the Wellington selectors that Rik...

I mean, he's not a quick bowler but he has so many variations.

Such as...?

he can swing the ball both ways, has a good slower & faster ball.
And he can make slight changes to a delivery to deceive the batsman.

Hitchcock is the type of bowler who is not really suited to the longer version of the game. However he may well be successful at Domestic level and should be given the chance. He's around the pace of Mullally and seems a bit of a Gavin Larsen in that he is tight and will take a few wickets for you. He can be very useful in the ODI's and should be given as much playing time as possible.

I have never really rated hitchcock but have been impressed with the way he has played in ODI's.

As for Mills.. He could develop into a great alrounder as he is a good batter.

Indians are going for a 4-pronged pace attack plus Harb in the first test. Sounds grand until until we think about who the four are.

Zaheer, Nehra, AA & Bangar. Khan is the only one who looks capable of delivering. If only Nehra can bowl a disciplined line and length! As for the other two, Bangar might restrict the flow of runs while AA gives it away at his end. So, those 2 more or less cancel themselves out. That elusive overseas victory, when will it come!!??

The man to watch out for will be BOND.It will be interesting 2 see how well the Indian batsmen plays him.The last 2 series that India played had ordinary bowlers, this time Indian batsmen will be really tested!

It was quite funny yesterday to see Shane Bond being surrounded by the Indian media.

I don't really think he's used to the attention because he's a shy person.
But suddenly with Cairns, O'Connor out & Nash retired...Bond is the senior bowler & hes under alot of pressure to perform against Tendulkar, Dravid etc..I don't envy his job.

We know that Bond is quick, its just a matter of whether he can use the conditions.

The bad news for India, is that the pitch is an absolute beauty for seam-bowling. I heard Harbhajan Singh quote that you could let cows graze on it, lol.

If NZ bowl first, which is what they will probably do & it is overcast, the Indian batsmen will be under pressure for the first 15 overs, theres no doubt about that.
And if the Indian bowlers bowl first then if they get it right theres no guarantees NZ will be imune either.

Well, there's a wicketkeeper batsman in India named V Naidu but I seriously doubt that this is who he was referring to.:D
