McMillan gone just before lunch. 5/355 now, 400-450 is not going to be enough on this pitch. They really need the tail to bat with Astle. McGrath is using all the experience that he has, and is bowling exceptional at the moment.

I think it may be enough for a draw, which we are playing for

Great spell of bowling before lunch from Warne and McGrath. Only two wickets from it, but it was really great to watch, and Astle did well to work his way through all of it. Hopefully from Australia's perspective the ball will keep moving around in the air after lunch and McGrath and maybe Kasprowicz can take advantage of it.

I don't buy that for a second. You can't go out and play for a draw against Australia from here, that's the ultimate acceptance of inferiority.

Could you have envisaged yourself saying that with a sad smiley before this match?
Australia right back in the Game ........If they can get to 200/2 if the end of today...they will be on top :(

How many times does NZ have to dismiss Hayden?

We saw it in the test series, the first ODI, and now. He's been extremely lucky, probably will smash a century now.

Franklin looked to be getting on top of Hayden a bit there though, much more worried about Langer at the moment.

Both the LBW and the catch were very close, I would have given both but of course I'm a NZer. The catch was a really tough one, Cumming looked pretty sure about it and I don't think he's the type of player who would claim a catch as surely as he did if he had doubt about it. Once it went to the 3rd umpire there was no way it could be given though, replay was totally inconclusive.

I cant believe that dude claimed that catch, it clearly hit the ground then his hand landed on it!
Did it? He picked the ball up without changing his hand position at all after he landed and his little finger seemed to be firmly gripped under it.

looked to me that he had it in his hand, then dropped it, and in an attempt to re-gather it his hand had downward pressure on the ball.

Another example of why use of technology isn't a practical solution to disputable decisions. I wonder what Fiery thinks of this one...

The replay clearly created doubt because it looked like he had the ball in his hand but used the ground to force it to stay in there. Since the rules state that a catcher has to clearly be in control of the ball before it touches the ground, the third umpire could only give it not out, but it was far from conclusive in either direction.

LBW was pretty close in my view, but the right decision was made. I'd call it in the same category as the Vincent one yesterday, except this time the umpire got it right.

Spectacular performance by McGrath today, another trademark effort on a pitch with nothing in it. I've never seen him use reverse swing that well before, either.
