But he is Opening the bowling this morning ....... NZ should not lose wickets in the first hour ....
Hence the reason it is a slight injury. I think it is just Michael Slater making excuses, or he could really have a slight stomach strain, who knows?

There's nothing more annoying for a fast bowler who chargers in to bowl just to have the batsman nonchalantly leave the delivery ..... :p

Did he get a wicket after taking the Nball ???

Four 4's in the last Four overs by Astle/Marshall ...... Good start for the day so far ...
No. Australia only got 3 wickets all day.

WoW! Marshall is batting excellently. Apart from Kasprowicz's first ball, he has been the only bowler to hurry on the batsman, McGrath & Gillespie look like they are just going through the motions.

Well Ponting perhaps a little over confident ...... should have saved the New ball for today when his fastbowlers are fresh ..... Of course hindsight is 20/20 :D

I'd put that Warne ball up with Gatting, Chanderpaul and Laxman personally. An absolute classic, not only for the way it bowled him but the beautiful drift to leg.

Still, terrific innings from Marshall. New Zealand have the chance in front of them now.

The difference with the Gatting & Laxman ones is that the batsman had it covered, and Warne simply beat them. On this occasion, Marshall didn't really cover it, it was that far outside leg that he should have got his pad & bat on to it.

True, but I think in this case it was the drift that caused Marshall to misjudge the line. He brought his pad further and further across to cover the ball moving further to leg, eventually opening up a gap for the ball to spin through. It was a perfect delivery.

McMillan gone just before lunch. 5/355 now, 400-450 is not going to be enough on this pitch. They really need the tail to bat with Astle. McGrath is using all the experience that he has, and is bowling exceptional at the moment.
