**Official** New Zealand v Australia

Personally, I put the loss down to the last over we saw bowled. Marshall deciding to paddle McGrath on his first ball. I'm sorry, Marshall, but as brilliant a batsman as I think you are, that decision was awful and in my opinion cost us the match. He should have just gone for the singles using normal strokeplay, took five or so runs off the McGrath over (which would have been a lot for a McGrath, considering how well he was bowling) and then taken the last eight or so off Lee, as you'd done the last two or so Lee overs. Had any of McGrath overs gone for many runs that game? I don't think I saw any. To think that he could suddenly play shots against him was foolish.

You're trying to tell more NZ batted, bowled and fielded better than Australia and lost. I'm struggling to work out your logic.
Oh, give the guy a break. :p I didn't see the match, but it is actually possible for a TEAM to bat better than another team but still lose because of their batting. It only takes ONE player to make ONE mistake to lose a game, but overall the batting quality can still be considered better.

I didn't see the game so I won't judge. But I know what the guy means, because I've thought the same in past games.

I called the inlcusion of Sinclair and the ommision of Wilson before the game as a very bad decision. Sinclair is simply not a ODI player.

NZ will be very frustrated by that loss but by the same token Aussie would have been just as annoyed had they bombed it from the situation NZ were in once Astle got out.

A great game between two very even ODI sides. Neither really deserved to lose IMO and thats the beauty of these transtasmen games. Both teams always turn up and probably 9/10 put on a great match at ODI level

Wilson will probably be brought in for the next game as it's being played at Christchurch, I would have him in there instead of Tuffey or Mills.

OK. It was the fact that he said Australia "played terribly" and still won that I took exception to. A bit condescending and patronising I thought.

Tuffey and Mills will not be replaced, Sinclair is basically the only player that can be replaced as the remainder of the side looks fairly settled, particularly after Styris' knock at Eden Park and McMillan's tonight.

Hamish Marshall is such a good player that surely they have to look at James soon

yep.. expect to see either wilson or adams in for sinclair
It'll almost certainly be Wilson, apparently the quickest bowler in the country will surely be selected on one of the better pitches in the country at Jade Stadium.

Well he managed a decent score against Canterbury in the State Shield semi - surely that would've caught the selectors' eyes.

Cric.... how can you possibly deduce that from this game? Did you see that no ball that bowden paid against the aussies at the end? that wasnt a no ball and couldve cost australia the match, but the umpire was pretty much even all game, i just thought bowden had a pretty bad game... no signs of itimidation at all
okay not from this game but other games like in the chappell-Haddle series peter parker was clearly intimidated by the australian players

Billy Bowden had an awful start to the game. Hope he is made accountable for the 2 Hayden shockers and the wide he called that would have bowled Ponting if it didn't hit his pad.

Aleem Dar was fairly consistent, didn't umpire that badly really. On the other hand there's Billy....for New Zealand's supposedly best umpire, he was terrible.
