**Official** New Zealand v Australia

International Debutant
He opened the batting with Richardson last tour, but now Rig has retired, so Sinclair might have been dropped because he didn't perform well as an opener last time.

He has done it on occasions, but I don't think he has had great success opening (not totally sure though). I think most of his good performances have been in the middle order. Strange selection really.

Not awe-inspiring figures are they? A distinct lack of hundreds. Still - all the best to him on his test debut. He has been given a chance - lets see him make the most of it.

Brett Lee misses out yet again, not much more he can do though

Plus there's rain forecast

Btw i was gonna say that.. i have to go my tickets for the test.. but the weather forecast for the whole good fri/ easter weekend doesnt look for auckland.. we'v never had good weather over the last few years during this weekend anyway.. lets hope it changes.. today was quite bad at the start but it became clear later on.. and the weather forecast prediction today was for rain all day..

Poor Lee. I guess Kaspa's 100th test wicket was just too much for the selectors to leave out. Got to feel sorry for Bing. He stays for the test series but doesn't play a match. He had the sportsmanship to congratulate Kaspa when he came off the field.

picking Marshall is an interesting one, he probably wont make anyruns but giving Fleming a shot down the order might help more

Marshall has not really done too badly in domestic games, his last two games his average is: 55

well their current team isnt working, and theres no harm in experimenting given they probly wont win the test anyway

Or the fact that the 3 seamers haven't done anything to justify being replaced means that there just isn't a spot for him?

Just because he is his twin, doesn't mean identical performances.
No it doesn't, but it does show that domestic records aren't the be-all-and-end-all for International Cricket.

Kinda quiet considering the 3rd Test has started. I hope beyond all likelihood that NZ put up a 350-400 or so first innings score, and later on in the game by law of averages they've gotta do well in their 2nd innings one of these days.

The Marshalls are having a good start. There was of movement around early, but Gillespie in particular was a bit wayward.
