I liked the tactic of attacking Somerville a bit more straight away. Ajaz was already leaking a bit though so it wasn't as necessary, and he was turning it away as well; dumb cricket IMO.Yeah was on the cards, Matthews to play a calm steadier now pls
Lakmal mateKarunaratne is probably the most improved player in the world.
Can you expand on "not reading the conditions well enough"?This will be a good win for Lanka and probably deserved against this opposition, given they've made three tours to NZ in the five years and generally been up against it. NZ haven't acquitted themselves badly but suffered from a lack of match practice and not reading the conditions well enough.
Am not watching, so can someone please elaborate on the Perera review? Given out, Cricinfo says:
"Has this ballooned off the glove or forearm? No contact with bat/glove. Forearm it is and Kusal survives. They now have to check for lbw, impact may have been outside the line. The tracker returns umpire's call"
- but if umpires call on an out decision I thought decision stays out? Or was impact umpires call, but was missing stumps, and Cricinfo team didn't add the full comment?
Not in selecting the playing XI, but yeah more in the over aggressive approach in the 2nd innings, from the first innings scores they probably made it to be more of a rank turner than it actually is. The bowlers too tended to vary lengths a bit too much when they could've put the ball more consistently in a single area (a la Dananjaya and Ajaz in the first half) , but credit to the Lankans there for hitting them off their lengths I suppose. Can you expand on "not reading the conditions well enough"?
Do you mean in selecting the playing XI?
Or in the over-agressive batting by Kane and Ross in 2nd inning?
Or something else?
