Also, this sort of tail fightback is more of a norm than an exception. Maybe not such a strong wag but this has happened in the 3 innings in this test and the first English innings of the 2nd test.

Excellent work from the lower order, stood up when needed. While Sri Lanka shouldn't be too alarmed the way the pitch seems to be playing, 268 is still a respectable lead and they'll do well to chase it down.

SL pair been very good. We've threatened but unlike many other top order batsmen this match, that hasn't led to Karunaratne or Thirimanne taking unnecessary risks.

Somerville been good, has to believe the wicket is coming. Surprised Santner has bowled more than Ajaz. Must be tempted to give Williamson a bowl to the lefties when Somerville has a break. Or even some Tim Southee 120k off-cutters with the keeper up .

I'm impressed to see SL host a non-SC side without deliberately preparing a dustbowl. Looks like a decent, normal SL wicket.

Also I like the offie that bowls wrong-uns as a change up. That's new.

Still can't shake the feeling that one wicket will lead to a lollapse but this had been good from these two. Fair play to Thirimanne especially
