It is funny though that that happened immediately after the comms waxed lyrical about how Kohli is this turning pitch 4th innings chase master.
Smithy knows the score. On comms in India you talk up Kohli due to the demi-god status he has there.

He's looked a little better in the last few overs imo. His pace has gone down a bit and his trajectory is better. Not having to bowl at Jaiswal has definitely settled him a little.
Agreed, last few overs have been much better. Not having to bowl at Pant was probably a good thing too. Could be pretty vital against the lower order if he can keep it up.

He's not won one game chasing in the 4th innings lol.
I was about to say - I'm pretty sure all those hundreds/fifties have come on massive roads chasing some hopeless 500+ score or dead draws. Certainly can't recall him ever guiding India to a win with one of those.

His Adelaide hundred was an absolute classic on a pitch where Lyon spun it a mile. It's wrongly been reclassified as a road.

But yeah, his chasing reputation comes entirely from odis . Done sfa in tests.

Oh yeah somehow that one skipped my memory. That definitely counts in his favour.

EDIT: Yeah the one I was thinking of was the BMac 300 innings. 100 out of 3/160 in a stone dead draw lol

The 2018 hundreds in England and South Africa too would be remembered as classics too (still are I think?) if it weren’t for the rest of the batting letting him down on those occasions. But yeah, that was an age ago.

They weren't in the 4th innings iirc. Definitely great knocks that were wasted by a poor batting line-up around him . Was a theme during his 2014-2019 peak away from home.

Santner is looking a little tired here. Might be worth giving him a rest soon until tea and get him back after he's had some treatment.
He was grinning like a cheshire cat a moment ago, seems to be a man absolutely in 6th gear mentally at the moment.

Don’t mind giving Santner a well deserved break and bringing in one of the pacers here to test Sarfraz, though they’d need to be smarter about their lengths than they were in BLR.
