**Official** New Zealand in West Indies

Yes WI are in trouble here, but Samuels is in very decent form and looking good in the early stages of this innings. It'll be interesting to see how Pollard approaches this, one of his quickfire 30's that he produces in T20 cricket is not going to be enough here, he's going to have to play a proper ODI innings with so much time left in the innings and the target around 200 runs away.

Will he look to construct a more sensible innings here, or will he revert to type and try and get to this target asap.

Wouldn't be a West Indies series without a Calypso collapso. They can still chase this down if they actually go 25 overs without throwing a wicket away. Perhaps all the stuff about Runako Morton hasn't helped them.

Looks like the end is nigh for the WI.

Much better performance by NZ in the field.
Still too many soft dismissals when set by the NZ batsmen.

The NZ injury situation is beyond ridiculous.

Holy **** we won! Read through the cricinfo commentary while avoiding seeing the score - the tension, the drama.... definitely seemed like an under par score but then we got Gayle. I didn't really expect that dismissing Gayle would cause the Windies to collapse with Samuels, Bravo, Pollard etc. But then it did. Seems like some brilliant fielding to effect the three run outs (mixed in with a couple of dropsies).

Holy **** Nicol scored runs.

Really pleased NcCullum is back to his run-scoring ways. Batting at seven has not been too high for him last 18 months or so.

Holy **** Nicol scored runs.
The cynical side of me definitely thinks this will only prolong the torture, although at least his runs helped you win this one. Nothing would've been worse than Nicol saving his place with runs only for you to lose that match anyway.

Anyway, happy with the result. But I think the MOTM took the 'favour players on the winning team' thing a bit too far - Russell could feel a bit aggrieved that his 4fer and 42* were overlooked.

Out of ****ing nowhere!

Glad Boult did well, I reckon he'll make a decent ODI bowler. Swings it and has a good yorker. In other news, Taylor better get himself fit asap, as the batting is still a shambles.

Chris Gayle making SFA certainly didn't help. Get him early and where exactly are the big runs going to come from, Samuels maybe, and that's a bloody big maybe. Other than them two your've got a bunch of batsmen that average between 17 and 25 filtered amongst that line up, any surprises they were rolled like this? Would love to know why Russell is coming in at nine though, 40 odd list A games and he's averaging 33, he has a better record than most of the "batsmen"

Need to give Sammy the flick if you're serious about this form of the game too. Hopeless player and from what I've seen brings nothing to this West Indies team. Bowls between overs 20 and 40 and bats at eight, why? You won't be able to get away with Rampaul, Russell and Bravo as your three main seamers against the stronger teams, 300+ will be on the cards every single innings.

As for New Zealand same old story with the bat huh. Plenty of starts but nobody kicking on. Disappointed with how Flynn got out, anyone with half a brain could see what Bravo was trying to do, should've shown just a ounce of patience. That's three innings now with a highest score of 28 while still averaging over 20 with a SR just a tad under 100. If he decides not to throw his wicket away for once there should be no reason why he can't make substantial in the last couple of one dayers, although he'll probably move back down the order with McCullum coming back into the team.

Yep. Concerning that Watling didn't field after the injury he suffered while batting. Anyone heard anything about the seriousness of that?
According to the commentators, the early reports from the dressing room suggested the injury to Watling's quad was worse than first thought and could be tour ending.

In the face of all the injuries, I just hope they don't rush Taylor back too early.

Was about to defend Sammy, then actually I looked up his ODI bowling average. Ouch.

Depressing to see Flynn get out like that. Looks so good and then plays a horrendous stroke. FFS.

Admittedly I've only seen highlights of the match but Flynn looks really good tbh. I really hope the selectors stick with him until he settles in at the top level.

Flynn, Guppy and McCullum could potentially be our top 3 in all formats for the next 5 years.

Flynn still has a few things to work on, but unlike when he was first selected he is definitely one of the best batsmen in the country for the long format at least. CBF remembering List A.

Man of the Match should be given to Nathan. surprised to see going to Nicol

Another thing I'd like to mention is Southee's bowling. He bowled brilliantly and was genuinely threatening. As was Boult.
Mills on the other hand was not. I know he's capable of taking an early wicket, but I think Southee and Boult are better wicket taking options.

I'd like to see Boult and Southee sharing the new ball, with Mills as first change.
