Nah look gagf. Hesson's said the batting wasn't too far away from a pass mark today. It was a slow pitch and a very slow outfield.
Haha..the terrors of the very slow outfield aye. The battings not far from a pass mark, and meanwhile the cricinfo report is titled 'Williamson the only batsman to resist'.

I'm not sure what this post is trying to achieve.
I'm just saying we revel in mediocrity. It's probably not a fresh or insightful viewpoint but it's just a chance to say that at this point in time, I acknowledge that we continue our proud tradition of being very mediocre.

There's a fine line between "not accepting mediocrity" and running a revolving door selection policy.

That cricinfo report was clearly based on nothing more than a casual glance at the scorecard, rather than actually watching the match.

Guptill for the WI IMO. Technical issues against spin may have been overwritten by getting to play lots and lots of spin, plus he's a huge asset in the field.

As a specialist fielder and sacrificial opener, he might not have been a bad option.

He was actually our most successful player in the disastrous tour 2 years ago - I thought he was about to turn the corner in test cricket:

Yeah, that was definitely part of why I was considering him -- looked pretty decent last time around. Definitely a better option than Rutherford in the conditions, and probably more likely than Fulton to make some jammy troll runs.

Well the board have released the 13 member squad for the first test...probably doing so because Narine is heading home and they wanted to do so before he gets a chance to talk to the media!!.. :@

The WICB’s Selection Panel today named the 13-man squad for the 1st Test Match against New Zealand. The match will be played at Sabina Park, Jamaica from Sunday June 8 to Thursday, June 12.

FULL SQUAD: Denesh Ramdin (Captain), Sulieman Benn, Kraigg Brathwaite, Darren Bravo, Shiv Chanderpaul, Kirk Edwards, Shannon Gabriel, Chris Gayle, Kieran Powell, Kemar Roach, Marlon Samuels, Shane Shillingford, Jerome Taylor

NOTE: Dwayne Bravo is unavailable for selection due to injury. He returned to Trinidad to continue his rehabilitation.
The funny thing is Gayle has barely stepped foot in the "camp" they claim was so important but of course his name is there!! 8-) ..

But anyway the side is just like i said it would be..

Gayle/Brathwaite
Powell
Edwards
Darren Bravo
Chanderpaul
Samuels
Ramdin (wk)
Taylor
Benn
Roach
Shillingford

Samuels hit a ton in the warm-up match currently going on against a Barbados eleven..so that's a timely boost for the guy, i also think batting down the order will put less pressure on him too.

The attack should be able to cause problems despite Narine's absence...Shilly and Benn together if they get it right can be devastating...while seeing Roach and Taylor share the new ball is just a dream come true right now.

According to Cricinfo both Roach & Taylor have been named for the first Test. Now that's something I've been looking forward to for years. And something I figured would just not happen anymore. Roach has been out for over a year and Taylor for nearly 5 years!

It would be nice for the Windies to have a proper fast bowling tandem again.

Yeah big mid-pitch conference on the pitch, earlier -

Craig losing far too much of his pace in the pitch today by the looks, big turn, but the batsmen had so much time. A 10-8 round to Sodhi.

Fulton opening with Latham. Interesting.

Edit: and Fulton's out playing a ludicrous pull shot.
