Think his career is going to end up much more "what if" than Chris Cairns.
Probably for different reasons. For a lot of his career Cairns' problems were attitudinal. For mine, the greatest thing about Bond is that he has the commitment to back up his talent.

i love watching shane bond bowl, maybe something that would help him with injuries would be if he dropped a couple of yards of pace and made his run up less rapid than it currently is. although this poses a problem as one of bonds biggest weapons is his pace.

I'd do that, but only because I want to become a half-man, half-machine, invincible psycho killing machine.

I think he already has. In that WI series he was regularly dropping into the 130s, I also don't think I saw him hit 150 either.

Should be interesting to see how he goes. Some new talent never goes astray. The whole South African batting line up has been out of touch for a fair while now, maybe he can get them back on the right track.

There was a lot of good things said about Amla last time he debuted for SA, and you could tell he had potential but he really did unfortunately fail. Hopefully with more domestic success under his belt he'll be able to perform well for SA.

That's just stupid as far as I'm concerned. I could understand dropping Gibbs for Rudolph but not Amla. His technique is horrible.
Doesn't matter what his technique is like as long as he gets runs on the board. I didn't think dropping Gibbs was the right thing to do, especially when you're keeping some others in the side. Gibbs gets bowled way, way too much for a number 3. The only other #3 batsman I can think of who gets clean bowled as much as he does is Michael Vaughan. Gibbs is a world-class batsman though...he'll be back.

But I don't think he will get test runs on the board with a technique as horrible as his.
I haven't seen him bat so I can't comment but on the topic of technique...someone tell Graeme Smith to stop leaning over and playing across the line of the god damn ball...

Technically his far better than Gibbs, Rudolph, Smith, Prince et cetera. His come on leaps and bounds since his test debut and batting at number three is nothing new for him, bats their usually for the Dolphins. Be interesting to see if he can convert that talent and success his had this year into the test arena be a pretty tough examination in Cape Town, I fear more for his temperament than his technique...
