Proving that CWers just don't rate IndiaOur ex-CW colleague is now averaging over 200 vs India
YupBest fielding side in the world
He looked good against spin this innings, indeed most of the series. Fared better than 3 of the other batsmen batting higher than him.Saunter shouldn't really ever bat higher than 8.
I'm not comparing him to KW, I'm saying that here is this fantastic example of how to fix batting problems, and a superb mentor in the side. Remember when KW kept getting out to that back foot punch? It's not as if he's never had problems. What did he do to fix them?Absolutely not good enough. Little bit different than Kane I think, who is so far ahead of Tom in terms of mental strength that it's not really a comparison. As I said, it feels harsh and the guy doesn't have a horrendous conversion rate (or not as bad as Fleming's) but it's much more unforgivable for a guy to do all the hard work, get past 30-40-50 and get out - and with Tom it never feels like it's ever in the same way. It's mental lapses that reveal themselves in a number of different way. With Gup, we all understand he's just not up to it as a Test opener and isn't going softly, moreso he has gaping technical flaws that end up with edges to slip or being trapped on the crease 95% of the time.
I don't know if it's coaching. Tom has a very good technique. He's held up against Starc and co with a new ball, and Ashwin, Jadeja etc in 4th innings, scored tons against Pakistan etc. I'd suggest he needs to be working with the Gary Hermannsons of the mental skills world, pick Mark Richardson's brains, anyone who either knows how to bat for sessions on end or is well qualified to tell him how through their profession. I'm picking he went to the UK to learn to bat time, and whilst he averaged 45 odd or whatever, he still wasn't converting with nearly enough regularity.
Latham needs to meet with Sanga/Chanders.I'm not comparing him to KW, I'm saying that here is this fantastic example of how to fix batting problems, and a superb mentor in the side. Remember when KW kept getting out to that back foot punch? It's not as if he's never had problems. What did he do to fix them?
How much investment has been made on guys like Sodhi? He's had private sessions with Shane Warne ffs.
Here we have a potentially world class test opener and I don't feel as if he's made significant progress since his debut. It's a failure all round.
Can't really agree with this.Saunter shouldn't really ever bat higher than 8.
There has to be some deeper vitriol for Pujara beyond his proboscis nose, non-smooth skin and his strike rate surely?Hell of an effort from Che.
The players and crowd applaud it. Naturally Kohli and the commentators don't. ****s.
FFS Sanjay even says it was almost as if the batsman wanted to give Pujara some catching practice. I bet you've never held a catch half as hard as that you ****wit.
