*Official** New Zealand in England

My New Zealand team for the first test would be:

Richardson
Fleming
Astle
Styris
McMillan
McCullum
Cairns
Oram
Vettori
Tuffey
Bond

I presume with all the rain England has been having lately the Lords pitch will seam around all over the place as what happened over the NZ summer in Hamilton.

Even though Bond hasn't done much in the warm-up games I think eve if he's 80% fit he offers us more than Martin with the ball.

Vettori keeps his place in my team for variation reason only.

Afraid not, all sunshine here in England at the moment and looks like it will continue like it for the week, and if its warm in england its baking in the basin that is london, but then again this is England.
As for Vettori lets hope he performs like he did against kent!

That's good :). How has the Lords pitch been this summer so far? I seem to remember back in 1999 it was one of the worse prepared pitches in the country.

I'll never forget that delivery Cairns bowled that bunny Read with :D :D

Lord's went through a very large project of completely relaying the whole ground to a depth of about 10 feet I think since you last toured.

There's been 2 CC games at Lord's so far for Middlesex and both have yielded over 1000 runs in total. Haven't heard much about the state of it though, can only look at the results.

Firstly I have to say Kent are having a ball with you lot now ;)

NZ 409 & 41/4 (not bad for a 2nd string bowling attack, Saggers/Sami would have had a field day ;) )
Kent 432/9d

And James you seem to have forgoten that Martin was your main weapon vs SA he came back into the side and ran riot, and considering the NZ and English conditions are quite close why has Martin suddenly become the drinks carrier :D, Bond is fast but at the end of the day I wouldn't rush him back and watch him pull up 2 overs into the day, and he has had a rubbish tour so far against all three opposition he has played agaisnt.

Looks like we're definitely having problems with our bowlers on some level, and I can't hide concern watching our batsmen fall over in the same kind of manner. NZ may well lose this match! I'm sort of shuffling my eyes from side to side and reassuring myself that it's just the absence of Fleming's captaincy (and to a lesser degree, Oram's all round influence). I hope that's the case, too. Or that they're just experimenting, which may be true to some extent.

Here's hoping Harmison suffers the same up-down run that Martin's going through, though. Eh heh.

EDIT: GOOD LORD! 41/5! That's atrocious!

EDIT: Alright everybody, place your bets, what kind of score do you think NZ will pull off from this position?

Well the form shown by Papps v South Africa in the ODIs makes him hard to drop. Hamish Marshall needs to pull his finger out and be more consistent.

Also are you forgetting there is little chance Astle will open again according to Ashley Ross.
Marshall's not likely to loose his place ahead of Macca IMO..........

Bracewell has already said that Astle will be expected to Open in ODIs.........

FACT: It took 7 balls for McCullum to become the second highest scoring New Zealander today. *scratches his head*

Wow, the English are more optimistic than I am. :( I'll go with 150.

EDIT: 81/6... maybe I'll go with 110. -_-;; How embarrassing.

EDIT: There is something seriously wrong with all of this. What in the world is going on? Is this team really that different to the team that did so well against South Africa? They can't be serious.

Maybe English County Cricket isnt as bad as people make out. Certainly the bowling prospects in england is in a very healthy situation. Troy Cooley has said that David Stiff is one to watch out for in the future...and i'll take his word for it considering his track record :)

Nope, Isolator on the money now... looks like NZ have finished off a lot better than they started out... just like old times.

EDIT: 211 all out. Lead of 188. Oh me oh my...
