And who would be in the full strength England attack?
With Caddick, Gough perhaps, Harmison, Kirtley, Anderson, Johnson, Bicknell, Saggers all available, I may tend to agree. That said, he may find a place as an allrounder.

Caddick and Gough may unfortunatly struggle to get back into the ODI team and Harmison and Kirtley dont really inspire me as ODI bowlers and I dont think Saggers has played an ODI yet.

Bicknell - see Caddick & Gough.

As for Flintoff, I suppose I should give him credit with the ball, his rpo is very good.

You forgot Flintoff Liam, seeing as this is ODI...
And seeing as it is, Caddick has retired, Harmison will hopefully never be let near the ODI setup ever again, Kirtley ditto, Bicknell unlikely to be around in 2007 and Saggers' List-A record poor enough, I suggest Liam reconsider!

Richard how did Ian Butler go in his short stint at Gloucestershire? You might have told me but I forget.

Yes, Butler came back and in my local newspaper said he felt he was let down by poor catching and a lack of bounce.

To be fair, Bracewell spoke pretty highly about his effort, and he doesn't usually mince words or give away cheap compliments.

APU his economy-rate was very poor - but he did actually manage to average under 29. Not too bad.
If the catching was poor it wouldn't be much of a surprise. But lack of bounce is absolutely no excuse - that doesn't bother good bowlers. Plenty of Kiwis seem to be given to over-complimenting Butler, though, so that's no surprise.

No, I don't - but I can't believe he learned anything.
His international performances seem to suggest he hasn't, too.

Except in the last Test he played in.

Barring injury I would be surprised if he didnt tour England.

Who knows Craig Cumming could be a bolter to go away with the Test team as 4d cricket is his speciality.

Cumming? No.

I can list a whole page of openers who deserves a chance more than him....

How, Vincent, Horne, Papps, Gaffaney, J Marshall, Jones....

None of those batsmen have done any better though..they've all been as inconsistent as each other this season.

Except for Papps.

Ok what has Gaffaney, How done to get in front of him? Jones is more middle order, James Marshall hasnt offerly excited me and Horne bats at 3.

Gaffaney. Look at his scores this season.

Jamie How. Again see above.

J Marshall. Well, weren't you the one saying that because he's the twin of Hamish he should be in the Test team by default?

Horne. Batting at 3 because of McIntosh and Richardson. He is an opener.

now. What has Cumming done? None.

Ah but Gaffaney doesnt usually open. How is inconsistent, and since when did I say he should be in the Test team by default as twin of Hamish?

Show me a link where I said it, if I did fine, I would like to see proof.

I hardly think Horne is good enough, he hasnt taken his chances he has been given.

Surely Richardson, Papps and Vincent will be the only openers in the test squad for England.

The case for McIntosh has really died away, making Vincent look much more assured. His other concern would be if they opt for just Fleming as backup to make room for a middle-order batsman or an extra bowler, but that seems highly unlikely.

My most recent squad (* = a certainty if fit)

*Richardson
*Papps
*Fleming (c)
*Styris
*Astle
*McMillan
Vincent
Fulton

*Oram
*Cairns (vc)

McCullum/Hart

*Vettori
*Tuffey
*Bond
Mason
B. Martin

For once it's very tough to narrow it down to 16, which is great. People will probably scoff at having Papps as the reserve keeper, but I honestly can't narrow it down otherwise.

As things are, I have no Butler, Wiseman, Mills, Sinclair, Marshall, McIntosh or Taylor. Either Hart or McCullum would also miss out.
