No, because a french cut only hits the stumps 1 in 10 times for all batsmen, apparently.
Obvious then!

After that inside edge, remove 10% of any runs scored!!!!

Well, that's true for me too (though if we play in the same team we will be nine and eight - NO-ONE takes Jeff and Michael's places at ten and eleven).
I did mention the word batsmen, didn't I?:duh:
Further to having had the misfortune of being paired with you playing indoor cricket tonight, I can confirm that you will be at nine.

For those of us who weren't standing at the non-striker's end having abandoned backing-up as a waste of energy:

Losing ten for a wicket, i made 8/0 (okay, a couple of french cuts, but still not out!) and Richard made 0/2 off quite a few balls - bowled twice playing down the West Coast Main Line to a Shinkansen (that's a Japanese "Bullet" Train).

I have seen worse batters, but they've been aged 9, and female.

So he is hopeless at batting? I hope I never play for Exeter CC. There would be three no.11's in the team :O  :saint: :O

I was asking if a french cut counts as a chance for your averages for the batsman.
No, because under no circumstances can it be out if the shot or delivery wasn't different.
I thought I answered that.

Well if you don't believe me, do your own research.
And make sure you don't just take 10 french-cuts; take at least 100!
And that's, of course, only an approximation.

I've told you enough times, Craig - I can't bat for s**t most of the time.

I was even worse than normal on Thursday, and believe me, that takes some doing!
To be fair, though, you did face a whole Medders over (as you presumably noticed, he's a wicketkeeper) and I did face most of Dom and Fatty. And Dom's Yorker I was just late on - not quite down WCML to a Shinkansen.
Still, I honestly fail to believe I didn't manage to touch that 20 mph-er.

I reckon you would unlucky to french cut a ball onto your stumps.
Whenever a batsman french-cuts it past the stumps it's always - "he's lucky there".
When he plays on, he's always "a bit unlucky".
The fact is, it's the opposite. If you play on, you've played a poor stroke and it results in your dismissal, you've just got to accept it. If you chop it past the stumps, you've made a small error and been a little bit lucky, but nowhere near as lucky as if you've been dropped or missed stumped. The fact is, it happens (small slices of luck, that is) - if it didn't, no batsman would average over 10.

I'm just not used to actually batting better than someone, so when I do, I tend to milk it :)

Four number XI's in a team? You would want to be 4-600 up when you lost your 7th wicket as your "tail" wouldnt last long.
