NZ v India last year was the only time i've seen the pitches out of control in terms of seam movement.

The pitches against Pakistan were far better.

Warne is a class bowler, no 2 ways about it, and he is effective in all conditions IMO.
This is not a question of your opinion, this is fact, whether you like it or not. In spin-friendly conditions in India in the last two series, it is a fact that he failed to make any impression on the Indians, so much so that he was carted all over the place by the Indian top and middle order. Again this happened when he was in excellent form against all other comers.

I agree that Warne is a great bowler, but as for being effective in all conditions, no way, there is still a matter of conquering what Steve Waugh called "the last frontier".

Thats not a comparison, thats a difference!

If you wanted to say what was in common, then it would be 2 left arm spinners.

Fleming and Thorpe.
They also have two immensely flattered-by-stats left-handed openers.

Warne has gone to pieces in India, twice, no denying that.
Possibly a case of the pressure being on him more than ever, for that "final frontier" reason. Plus poor strokes being played with less regularity - at other times, when not bowling so well, he has still got wickets, just like anyone.
He has one last chance to correct his poor record in India, probably.

Clearly you missed the last couple of NZ home series.
V. Pak - nothing for the seamers in the wickets.
V. Ind - about as seam-friendly as a two pitches can be.
Nothing in common with the pitches.

I agree in the pak series, but the india series (test AND O.D.I)were almost totally bowler domminant. The only real runs in that tour came from the super-max International.

Wouldnt surprise me if he is the leading run scorer for England in this series. Agree Richard?
Yes, I wouldn't be at all surprised.
I'd like it best if Hussain topped the charts, though. In fact, I'd like it best if Hussain topped every top-batsman chart in every Test-series. With Butcher second.

IMO I think Hussain will play onto he gets 100 Tests. He cant be that far away surely.

I'm aware of that, I just over-generalise. I kind of meant home summers-ish-kind-of-more-lively-than-they-are-here-ish-kind-of-mayb... (voice trails off)

Er, no.

They actually two good opening batsmen.
Yeah, right.
Trescothick is very lucky and Richardson (as well as having the customary small amount of luck) is a flat-track bully.

but Richarsdon was one of the better performed batsman in the Indian Tour to NZ on those green wickets last year, and he also did well in SRL & India - maybe he didn't score any tons but as a rule he doesn't score big - just consistantly around his average........
