I agree, McCullum should bat at number 7 in tests. Not because the other guys need to gain experience batting higher, just because I think that he is best suited there.

I have no problem with Flynn batting at 6, why test him out higher if that is the position NZ want him to bat? Ryder will bat at the top of the order, which is good. I don't like Oram at 7 though, I think he should be batting 1 higher.
With Franklin in the team though we have a ridiculous tail (Mills, Franklin, Vettori, Southee) so we can really afford to have McCullum higher in the order to potentially destroy the opposition. 5 or 7 are the ideal spots for him, he either saves us or attacks them.

TBH we have 3 guys who can open at the top of the order, if How and Ryder opened you could potentially slide Taylor to 3, and then add McCullum to bolster the lower middle order.

Or you could keep it as is, because what ain't broke don't need fixin'
I like the idea of having two guys who can make use of the powerplays. If one of them gets out, then the other one can keep going. I think How batting at 3 takes a lot of pressure off him also..you can see in that England series a lot of the time he felt the need to up the runrate and got out. With Ryder and McCullum opening this wont happen.

Well to be fair we've been lucky so far with Ryder and McCullum as they've rarely failed, it will be interesting to see how we go if this lucky streak runs out.
Though with How and Taylor to come our ODI batting is looking bloody strong.

As long as Taylor gives away the slog over midwicket/square leg.

Whoever told him that shot would work in international cricket is an idiot.

But, I like that shot. I dont mind whether its good or bad. I love that cross batted shot. He plays it so powerfully and I never watched no other cricketer like that playing...

It seems Taylor is working on his technique with his batting coach and he is already making changes to grip to enable him to play lot more straighter. Its a good sign before the aussie tour if he could get that technique proper,,..

He's put that away to an extent. A much better batsman in the past year than the previous.

I thought we had the best ODI kit in the world, but this I don't like.

What the ****? I hope there's been a mistake and that's actually some kind of training kit. We're not Western Suburbs from the 90's.

I mean, we can no longer lay claim to the best ODI uniform in world cricket with that.

No matter how bad we've played at times in the past few years (WC semi final, for example), we at least looked ****ing fantastic while doing so.

tbf I don't think anyone ever likes new playing uniforms, I remember hearing more than a few unhappy aussies when they found out they were exchanging Australian gold for green

Interesting you say that, you didn't happen to read this did you
No, I didn't read that. But the shot he plays has nothing to do with his grip. He is trying to hoik it over mid-wicket, it isn't as if he is trying to hit straight, and because of a technical issue it is going to mid-wicket.

It's a thought thing. He is thinking "If the ball is here, I will smack it over midwicket". It carries a huge risk factor, and he often fails because of it.

Good to see he is trying to connect a technical issue anyway, but I don't see how that is his major batting fault.
