"But despite their fightback in the middle session, the visitors bowling performance has not looked overly penetrating against a modest NSW batting line-up."

That comment comes from foxsports.com.au.

Our type of bowling attack could frustrate Australia I feel...if we get the field settings right & just bore the Aussie batsmen we might have a chance.

The challenage is on - Mark Richardson has offered Darren Lehmann to race him in Rigor's famous sprint contests.

There is very little doubt in my mind who will win that one !! Obviously Mark challenges only those with beer bellies !!

Boof wont do that, not after the recent injury anyway, im sure Hayden or Lee would be more than happy to take on anyone though ;)

sorry i think i am mistaken, on that aussie site Jnr gave us the bowling card read like this:

I.Butler 3.4 - 0 - 10 - 1
J.Franklin 12 - 3 - 47 - 1
C.Martin 14 - 5 - 25 - 0
J.Oram 6.5 - 3 - 8 - 0
P.Wiseman 7 - 3 - 13 - 0

which makes it look like butler opened the bowling and got injured, but on the cricinfo scorecard it appears that that is not what happened:

Martin 14 - 5 - 25 - 0
Franklin 12 - 3 - 47 - 1
Oram 7 - 4 - 8 - 0
Butler 4 - 0 - 10 - 1
Wiseman 7 - 3 - 13 - 0

confusing.....
The Cricket Australia site lists the bowlers in alphabetical order. The Cricinfo scorecard is the correct order of bowlers.

I'd have to disagree with that for 2 reasons.

The NZ bowler I dare say aren't good enough to bore the Australian batsmen, and the Australians play boring cricket better now than they ever have.

Yeah, being able to play defensively for a time without getting frustrated was a big help this year, with two big series in the subcontinent. If Vettori bowls very well he might be able to tie down one end, since Australia certainly have a weakness against great spin bowlers (although who doesn't, aside from India?), but I can't see the rest of the New Zealand lineup tying down the Australians too successfully.

If New Zealand are 6/14 against a NSW bowling attack, if at their full ability, imagine what the Australian's could do to them!

It's fair to say that NZ's test cricket is on a serious downward slide at the moment.

Where has 6/14 come from??

Butler looked impressive today, from all reports - IMO, he has to play in Brisbane and I'm trumpeted that for a while now. On the other hand, that Jason Krejza looks like he might have something to him...

6/14? I see New South Wales 60 odd runs clear with 2 wickets left in the first innings at stumps on day two...

Butler could do a 'Bond'...but we'll have to wait & see.

The Aussie wickets will suit Butler's style of bowling I think.

I think we're missing our 3 keys for this series though...Fleming, Vettori & Astle.

We've got Styris as Captain, a batting order which ends at #7 & a couple of players playing who were unlikely to make the side originally.
Still...we could be doing better but I don't think it'll be all doom & gloom for next week.
