I think Lockrose is showing a lot more upside with the bat than his more fancied team mates. Shpuld be looking at ways to get him and his power in as much as possible. Will be interesting to see who they decide to leave out to bring in Glenn Phillips when and if he is available next game.

Commentator saying that was a good piece of third umpiring? She said no sign of any deviation before the ball appeared to deviate as it went past the glove. Think that was out. Still, nice to see McLure bring up a fifty in this format.

It's a bit silly, but yes I think it touched the bat (not glove)

If Clarkson actually continues to bowl adequately I really hope the selectors consider him ahead of the World Cup.
I think Clarkson's bowling in a typical international ODI might threaten records for runs conceded, but hey I guess it's good having the option. Would like to see him biffing in an NZ T20 though.

Fluent innings from Young today on a pitch where everyone else struggled. Good that he's in form leading into his NZ return *crosses fingers and toes*.

Pringle 3/21 off ten also noteworthy.

He wouldn't be one of the 5 main bowlers though. If selected it would be instead of Mitchell or Phillips.

As much as Otago have made some quizzical decisions this season IMO, I'll be surprised to see Lockrose miss out. The trend this season has been spin through and through, and sides aren't exactly averse to playing one more bowler than strictly necessary. Rippon makes Otago as a specialist bat, and actually didn't bowl all too much in the early-season games he played; Lockrose was playing and bowling 4 a game.

Last match Foxcroft/Finnie/Rutherford combined for 4 overs -- I imagine Rippon might take over ~3 of those.
If Otago want/need more spin, then Ebrahim should just pick anyone, from any province, who is free. Apparently this is all cool.

Ford Trophy game yesterday, was the first match in this format that Kane Williamson has played for ND since March 2014. Almost 9 years.

Santner in Northern Brave squad for tomorrow's Super Smash elimination final. Wagner also in Northern squad. But no Williamson (after playing last Ford Trophy game for ND) and still no Southee, assume they now on test prep.

Rippon and Duffy in Otago Volts squad. But no Glenn Phillips, strange?

Glenn is on NZC leave according to the ODT. Don't think Ebrahim was too impressed.

Clarke set ND up nicely. Nice to see him come off, has looked a promising player since that under 19 WC with Allen and Ravindra.

Impressive from Katene Clarke, hasn't quite kicked on at domestic level yet but the potential is there. One thing I don't like about his game is his pull/hook shot, which is quite forehand-like and always hits low-to-high, which means it always goes aerial. Early Martin Guptill used to only be able to pull/hook like that too, so it was six or out, but he went away and learned to play the shot properly.

Wonder who would be NZ's reserve T20 left-arm-orthodox if Santner was injured. While could go Ajaz, think Pringle or maybe Lennox the more likely.

Speaking of which, Chu just smashed the ball into Santner's finger, who finished the over (conceded 22) but has now left the field.

Chu working for Big Pringle confirmed.

Is Louis Delport eligible? I would go with Pringle, but Delport seems very effective in Super Smash.

Guessing Rutherford is injured?
