But match is in Alexandra? Not in CD backyard, like Hastings where the 'A' match was being played.

And Renwick can keep, and in Otago squad.
Yeah the problem for coach Dion Ebrahim (former Taranaki coach and CD deputy coach, would be very familiar with Ave in Manawatu) could be that Renwick had two centuries in the pre-Christmas rounds, and he perceives a top-5 with Cumming, D Phillips and Parkes in it as just too brittle and kiddywinks to achieve the right results.

He probably doesn't want to follow Pocknall into throwing all of a region's Georgesons, Bhulas, Greenwoods, Allens and Ravindras at the dartboard at the same time and just assuming one or two of them will stick as patient and starchy first-class batting talent.

Please don't bat someone fresh off a 120 against South Africa at No. 6 here with a long tail, ND.

I'm keen on seeing a bit of magic and a huge haul of CdG draft points while he's in peak batting form.

International Coach
Weird batting order by CD

Young
Smith
Schmulian
Cleaver
Field (probably nightwatchman? though I'd have thought Ajaz would be a better option)
Bruce
Bracewell
Wiggins

Ajaz is first slip also, a bit odd.

CDG another 100.... the man is in some serious form. Looks like dropping from the playing XI has helped him and Santner both.

Meanwhile Ajaz the 10 wicket man has bowled 20 overs and hasn't taken a wicket. The irony...

I think curators might be going for another English-style March like last season (with an English Test tour to select for) rather than a dustbowl March. All these Simon Keene and Ray Toole hauls are sort of like spring county cricket.

Same...The first time I saw it I was like that was a bad call by the umpire and then paused it at the impact unbelievable call that.
Good call or lucky call? Same ump gave Raval out lbw to a ball pitching outside off that jagged back and hit his front pad in front of leg stump ...

Maybe, in general first class umpiring leaves a lot to deserve in any case.

Don't think either the curator or NZC are that keen on first class cricket to future proof tours. It's been the trend since like couple of years to have green carpets rolled out through out the season, doesn't mater which end of the season we are at.

Napier's usually pretty parched and full of wickets for spin at this time. I think it has had an abnormal wet summer, so yeah, maybe not a green nibbler by design.

Reasonable effort by the ND lower order to make a game of it. Turned a +40 for 6 into a 185 lead. Giving themselves something to bowl at.

Certainly supported CdG better than the test lower order, but no Jansen or Rabada to make the knees tremble when it's short.

Sodhi often puts in the most conscientious effort in the country in that regard. One of the few who doesn't get irked by playing the subordinate.

I was wondering if Young would handle the Randell. Glad the ump hasn't given that, if only because it's a good evening for practice of his opening skills out there.

225 lead in the end. Quality rear guard.

The good ship SS Johnston with a 7 off 42 contributing to a 60 run last wicket stand, with CdG.

Bit better that Matt Henry's 0 off 1 , caught at point boundary, contributing to 0 run last wicket stand.

What on earth have they been feeding glenn phillips? He's striking at 130 this plunket shield season after 4 games.

Most of his runs have been in 2nd innings pre-declaration bashes, after Auckland had a 1st innings lead. So good warmup for Netherlands white ball series.

Only 72 runs in 4 1st innings bats. Not so good if he wants to be in test squad to England.

Jeepers, I'd love to know why that isn't out.

Always enjoyed watching Brett Randall bowl, he's had a great season

He didn't score any runs in the county stuff either mid year, he shouldn't be going to England.
