BARNES OUT
Don't get me started on this, I'm still livid nearly 10 hours later. Everyone at the Magic should be sacked. The worst trade of the last decade by far.
Afflalo was really poor last season, stopped playing defence once he was paid. Harrington is a 30 year old jump shooting power forward who doesn't shoot. They arguably upgraded their wing spot with a proven defender with size and experience, rid themselves fo Afflalo and Harringtons money ($45mill) and replaced it with Iggy's ($30mill). Great deal IMO.I don't get why Denver gave so much though for Iggy.
Even if he was a good defensive option, Iggy is better, defensively and offensively, so I'm not sure what you were getting at.I guess I was stuck thinking that Afflalo was still a great defensive option. Shows how much I watched them last season.
yeah that was the weirdest part of this deal for me...but the lakers now have a legit shot at the title provided howard's back holds up...I don't get why Denver gave so much though for Iggy.
yeah really strange how they are able to land these super-sweet deals with some regularity...First the Gasol trade and now this. Why do the basketball Gods love the Lakers so much?
That I didn't think Iggy was a big enough upgrade to justify giving up Afflalo, Harrington and two 1st rounders. But I guess if you take AA's lack of commitment and money saved into account it's a decent deal.Even if he was a good defensive option, Iggy is better, defensively and offensively, so I'm not sure what you were getting at.
Memphis ultimately got Marc out of that deal didn't they? Still, at the time it was highway robbery.First the Gasol trade and now this. Why do the basketball Gods love the Lakers so much?
They're both protected first rounders though, so it's not like they're going to be good draft picks. Any picks not in the top ten in the NBA draft are generally worthless anyway. Sometimes you get lucky, but most of the time, you get rubbish. That I didn't think Iggy was a big enough upgrade to justify giving up Afflalo, Harrington and two 1st rounders. Tell that to Rajon RondoThey're both protected first rounders though, so it's not like they're going to be good draft picks. Any picks not in the top ten in the NBA draft are generally worthless anyway. Sometimes you get lucky, but most of the time, you get rubbish.
Rajon was scouted as a top 10 prospect but GM's were scared off by his inability to shoot a consistent jump shot. Not the greatest call on their parts, but you can't blame them. It's a God-awful stroke.Tell that to Rajon Rondo
Yeah but dude, they traded DWIGHT.****ING.HOWARD. His point is perfectly valid in any trade, except for one where you're trading the best player over 6'9'' in the league and the third best overall. He's right though, they're not totally worthless to the right GM. We got Lawson and Faried well outside the lottery (although Lawson never should've fell that far). But that said even most lottery picks never amount to much outside the top 3 or 4.
It's the flaw with building through the draft, OKC did it well but they lucked out on Durant and Westbrook and Ibaka were very raw and could've gone either way.
As a Celtics fan, my heart goes out to him. Pun not intended.Phx's Channing Frye out with Peter Siddle Syndrome.
