All over without losing a wicket, Marcus getting a ton in his hundreth ODI. Too easy really, can the Bengalis take owt from these maulings I wonder.

They've always been mauled. It hasn't changed a thing. Who's sick idea was this to make such a long series to decide which two of these three teams will make it to the finals? I mean really... c'mon, let's think about it. Playing with the best teams and getting whupped does not "up" your game.

I've heard a fair few good things about Aftab ever since he hit a 50 against Australia in the U-19 WC, and he's certainly impressed me today! Not only does he have a few nice shots like a few of the other Bangladeshi batsmen, but he looks to have a really solid technique too, including against the short ball.

Unfortunately Rafique is out, but you can certainly stick Aftab alongside Mortaza as big players in the next generation for Bangladesh. If Ashraful can live up to his billing as well, that's a good start on becoming competitive.
they've certainly shown serious improvements in the batting during this series. almost all their batsmen bar habibul(who continues to play that stupid hook shot which he can barely keep down), have tightened up their technique. even the unlikliest of them all, mashrafe mortaza has managed to improve his technique, to the point where he actually makes a fairly decent tailender.
the bowling though is another story.

They wanted a score to chase, and they have an easy, but sometime tricky score to chase, so I for one, hope it backfires in their face and Bangladesh win it.
well that didnt happen....
but i guess we can always count on australia to get 342 and still lose.

Khaled Mahmud, biggest pie thrower in ODI history?
God, he was awful. It was like a village cricketer had wondered on by mistake! I bet Mashud was loving the bouncers when he was standing up with no helmet too!

Easy win today, and Australia will probably do likewise on Saturday,

It was good to see Strauss opening as well, hopefully they'll stick with him at the top.

I totally agree (as I bet most English fans do), but it sort of begs the question why Geraint opened in the 20/20 if Big Dunc wasn't gonna persist with him there. He actually did ok there for once in the context of the game too.

It doesn't beg the question, since it is not an example of petitio principi, although it certainly raises it.

Given that Fletcher was briefing as recently as last week that it had taken Gilchrist ages to settle down as an opener (this isn't actually true, by the way), thus indicating that JOnes was opening for the foreseeable, it would appear that there has been a major row in the England camp. Flim-flam from Strauss inan interview about how they think a more conventional approach is indicated in English conditions sounds like a cover story to save Duncan's face over the obvious climbdown.

Unless Jones himself basically turned round and said he was fed up with this, since everyone was getting at him and it was too much of a distraction.

Cheers,

Mike

My old Latin dictionary translates petitio principi as "begging the chief point" or "begging the question", so I'm afraid you've lost me! Maybe you can elucidate? :)

Ructions in the camp would explain Big Dunc's rather saturnine (even by his standards) countenance whilst Tres & Strauss were moving inexorably to the target. However the decision was arrived at tho I think it has to be a good thing for our ODI team.

they are not actually called bengalis, i think, but quite a few people benefit, for instance, the players, coach, manager, physio etc get their match fees...the bang cricket assoc gets revenue from telecasting the match....their countrymen get to see yet again what the difference is between international standards and club standards.....

Apparantly Banger played one upper cut over the keeper to fine leg for 4 deliberately.

Can anyone who saw it confirm this?

He played two 'ramps' in the same over, one went slightly offside, one slightly legside

He actually did it twice! Bowling bouncers at 70 mph on a superb batting strip not the best cricket I've ever seen.

Shows how little they rate Batty.
so true, but in Gilo's absense they should go for an all seam attack and play Kabir Ali instead of wasting Solanki their. Has Botham siad today '' England's ODI selections are improbable to predict and sometimes make no sense ''
