Let's see it this way. Min. 1 player each from 8 test playing countries (Sorry Bangles and Zim)

TEST XII

India = Tendulkar/Dravid (I am Tendulkar Biased)
Pakistan = Shoaib/Inzamam
Lanka = Vaas/Murali
Australia = Warne/Hayden/Gilchrist=Obvious /Ponting
SA = Kallis/Pollock
WI = Lara/??
Eng = Vaughan/Harmison
NZ = Fleming/Cairns

So 8 from here (Batsmen/Bowlers) 3 more can be adjusted

My "Unbiased" XI, using Sehwag 309's structure:
India: Tendulkar
Pak: Inzi
Lanka: Murali
Aus: Gilchrist (WK) (C)
SA: Pollock
WI: Lara
Eng: Harmison
NZ: Fleming
Other 3: Hayden, Dravid, Warne

Not bad, but i think you need another pace bowler there - only Harmison and Pollock - Presumably Fleming to Open with Hayden?
Maybe swap Kallis for Dravid? Then on Pacy wickets Swap Either Warne or Murali for a pace bowler (probably Warne as there's not much to replace Murali with!)

Dravid is one of the top batsmen in the world! You can't swap him out of a World XI.

But there's only so many spaces! I dont think you can play with only 2 pace bowlers! who would you leave out givven teh criteria of at least one from each 8 nations?

Fair enough

I still feel the pace bowling would be weak with Harmison, Pollock and Kallis. I'd be tempted to play Shoaib in place of Warne in pace friendly condtions - i.e. all pitches outside the Sub Continent. This would enable Dravid and Tendulkar to play leaving Inzimam out

Ideally I'd have Kirsten bat for my life, but Kallis and Dravid are on par in that regard in my mind. Not saying Kallis is as good a batsman as Dravid though.

But you cant just leave them out becuase of which team they play for!

Streak is better than some of the players you mentioned.

It angers me greatly to heard someone say 8 test playing nations.

In my opinion Kallis is a better batsman then Dravid. :happy:

id rather have shoaib in place of murali because warne IMO is a better bowler in pace friendly conditions.....
