***Official***Match #21- India vs New Zealand- October 22nd-Dharamsala (D/N)

Will be interesting. If the kiwis were to lose this they have a potentially tough run. Every chance that the usual little brother syndrome could rare its head against a weakish and out of form Aussies. Then a couple of matches against mercurial teams that could beat anyone on their day.
Yeah NZ and Aus gives Kane and the Undertaker vibes

Loss of Pandya isn’t too critical in this game IMO, he was bowling trash in the previous games. Don’t think NZ quite have the lineup to beat India in current form at home, but you never know.

Despite the ground’s reputation talk seems to be about how it’s the sort of pitch which will bring Ashwin and Sodhi into the reckoning.

Years and years ago Silentstriker observed NZ vs India and Aus vs India tour threads have completely different tones.

Indian and NZ fans are pessimistic to the point of Gambhiring and then 2 months later Indians and Australians will be declaring themselves the greatest cricketing nation the world has ever seen during their series.

We're still observing that tradition today.

edit - classic timing from howsie below.

No surprise that India chose to bowl first again after winning the toss, they like chasing a total and their record batting second is pretty good

Hopefully we can set them a challenging total and we get a good contest.

This Indian attack is definitely a major step up from what NZ have been up against so far, though the Afghanistan match did keep the lineup honest. They did play India without KW earlier in the year so hopefully that experience proves useful.

Though it gets games mainly because of political patronage, really glad Dharamsala is a regular fixture on the calendar. Amazingly scenic venue.

Would really like to see India bat first and see how big a target they can set (especially on a flat deck) tbh. The change in Rohit's approach in the first powerplay has been the single best change under Dravid-Rohit, wonder if he'll still go hard from ball 1 if we bat first. I'm guessing not tbh.

At least the sun has come out now to make batting a bit easier, it still doesn't look that easy for batting though especially against Bumrah.

Yeah dilemma for both I suppose, both are generally chasing sides (or so the perception goes). At this point Locking down the semifinal spot is the bigger priority.
