Putting it mildly don’t you think, Gayle and Chanderpaul pretty much made the game a walk in the park for the likes of Sarwan and Lara.
I guess, i should just call them pathetic instead..

Bracken gets two! Watson did well to keep it straight and get some movement off the pitch. Johnson got key wickets. Axe Kato and we have ourselves a team. Good depth and character in this Australian outfit.

Quite right... Just as long you didn't plan on bringing back Haydos(:wheelchai) for Katich i'd be fine with that:dry:

After McGrath, Watto seemed to be the pick of the bowlers... He was unlucky to have Chanders dropped and then Sarwan nick 1 just wide of the slips earlier...but bounced back well all the same.

His bowling figures for ODI's are looking suprisingly good... i do recall his average being somewhere up around 48 not just to long ago, it's back at 34 now... Hopefully he's finally putting it together (pity about his batting today though)

One must give credit where credit is due, and where it is due today is to Clown Symonds for brilliantly carrying drinks and then providing the final push to drive West Indies to collapse by coming on the field for Fatty Cosgrove, walking in from mid-on, and petrifying the timid batsmen into submission. He even wore his Clown make-up for the occassion, regardless of the lack of sunlight. Man-of-the-match for me.

280 is an absolutely massive target on this wicket. 200 would be very defendable. West Indies won't get anywhere near it. McGrath and Bracken will be a real handful with the new ball under lights.
LOL, what an amazing call. They'll have to think up a whole new CW award for this one...

I can't help but to think that Shivnarine Chanderpaul is actually an abused and bullied 12-year-old, watching him in the awards presentation... Then again, can't think that while watching him bat.

Cricinfo commentary had it right. The "never say die" attitude of Australia is what makes them so amazingly good.

Absolutely dire that Watson took a wicket or 4 against us. Still, some positives there.

Bradshaw bowled well and they've got the right men opening - about time Chanders joined Gayle again.

Re: Katich, it's worth remembering that batting was extremely tough early in the innings. The bowling was all over the place and Ponting made it look easy, but Katich was obviously preserving his wicket for a reason, given it's a lively wicket and Australia picked one less batsman than normal. He does struggle with rotating the strike at times, but today wasn't really a great example of that.
I wouldn't say the ball was all over the place. There was an awkward bounce on some deliveries but not much more. The ball was coming on nicely as well.

 Hundred (odd) runs needed with eight wickets remaining and 25 overs left and still the West Indies conspire to chuck the game away.
World Cup semi final vs Aussies in 1996 - 10 overs 40/41 runs needed and 8 wickets or so in hand. Australia went through to the final.

Dear me, I wouldn't like to be the chef for the Cosgrove vs. Key pie-eating contest.

Nor a West Indian middle order legend.

Damn windies snatching defeat from the jaws of victory, when i was in school earlier today i heard Gayle & Chanderpaul were smoking it & befoe school was over Windies had lost.

Looking back at the tape here, if seems as if the windies middle-order just folded under Australia's reputation.

For Australia, McGrath was brillaint just giving away 1 boundary in the entire game & bowling superb lines & lengths, geez you wouldn't believe he was out since January, a few more games & he'll be raring to go in the ashes. Johnson was also very impressive in his second spell, he must fee he has the wood on Lara since he has failed him twice in his two games againts the little maestro who of recently is developing a big technical flaw early in his innings.

Watson for the 1st time i actually saw him move the ball which is good signs also.

The ground looks fairly small so if sides bat well i reckon it could be a fair high scoring series
