Well said.

Sachin really has scored a pressure innings in a while, barring 170 in the 3rd Test.

Viv Richards was tried and proven, over and over again.

Personally however, I rate Sobers higher than both Tendulkar and Richards because, in my opinion, he was part of a weaker batting team than both Viv and Sachin and therefore was constantly under more pressure.

I would rate Sobers and Viv higher than Sachin right now, but I think by the time he retires, he would have put all speculations to rest and be ranked clear second.

I was talking purely in terms of batting. Sobers is the best allround cricketer ever.

We've done this one.. I still say Beefy at his (brief) peak was better ;) But Garfield over a longer period of time.

Batting wise I'm going to say Viv because he was so far ahead of his time. And I'm a Somerset fan.

Even if you take their entire careers, they are still pretty close. Botham was a better bowler while Sobers was the better batsman. Both were exceptional fielders especially close-in and each has taken more than 100 catches. No other all-rounder comes near to having the record of these two.

Sobers was a great batsman and a bowler with an exceptional talent to bowl almost all sorts of deliveries from military medium pace to chinaman. That makes him the best all rounder ever in the true sense of the term.No one even comes close.

Can we get back to the real topic thanks :D

Well The First O.D.I has started

India on

55/2 (12.4 ov)
India RR: 4.34

Agarkar 5
Laxman 5

People Out

Ganguly 16
Sehwag 28

After a fiery start kinda from agarkar things slowed down after new comer Drakes caught and bowled him and after some overs ganguly got clean bowled , to a crap shot...

India won the toss and elected to bat and brought in a new player Yadav who is known to be a good all rounder we shall see if that is true , and a suprise move 1) Agarkar is in the team :(! :(! 2) hes batting at 3 ?! he better score some runs ...

Nehra the other man in too in for srinath

Well a fantastic knock by Ajit Agarkar. On a unpredictible pitch, he blazed a fantastic 95 of 102 balls including 11 fours and 2 sixes. Wonderful stuff!

Ajit's batting is getting better by the day, and I wish that everyone here would get of his back once in a while!

:(! :(! :(!

And he misses the ton by just 5 runs:(

Still it was one hell of an innings by master blaster Ajit.Looks like Ajit is now getting serious about his batting, maybe India should send him higher in the batting order from now on!

I don't understand that move at all - he's not going to at there in the World Cup realistically so why put him there now?

He might find facing the quicks of Australia, South Africa and Pakistan on South African wickets, just a tad harder than the demoralised West Indies on Indian strips.

I Would no where as far as going to calling agarkar a Master Blaster yet ?!

He cant still bowl which he should really focus on...

Errrm Agarkar was the fastest player to reach 150 ODI wickets...so he can bowl, its just his bowling at the moment really which is the problem. Also he allways seems pissed off...when he got hit for 4 by England in the Winter when he would have a rubbish 1st spell then come back with decent figures...each time he was hit for 4 he looked like he was seriously thinking about thumping one of the batsman

Rik

Yadav, a bit of a quiet debut for him...bowled for 0(4) in the slog overs near the end and figures of 4-0-22-0 but 2 catches. Not really sure what to make of him...

Also Kumble hasn't done well in ODIs for a while, he'll be averaging 30 with the ball soon...should he stay in the Indian ODI team?

Must be, as he only has 155 or so now, and until recently he's been out of form for 3 years or so.
