Sorry mate, I don't think he is all that well respected these days. I would like to see your reaction after he gives a shocker to Inzy or Younis.... We all know bad decisions happen, but they are just happening way too frequently with guys like Bucknor and Bowden. I know some umpires are bad but I think these two are the worst in the International panel and the sooner they are taken off, the better..... BTW, where is Simon Taufel? I rate him as the best alongside Rudi (I know he got that Sachin catch wrong, but he is still good.)mofo123 said:look umpires r human, they have to make decisions on the spot and under pressure, he has stood in 100 test and is respected highly, if he makes a bad decision suck it up...he didnt offer he light...so wot? it happens gave tendulkar out...so it happens, i think its karma u get lucky then u get unlucky its life...he got lucky in mohali.....just move on dudes!!!!!!! and thats not just to 1 person in particular
Mate, he was out both times.... Juz because he had thrust out his front foot doesn't mean he was not out. Kumble rarely turns the ball and his quicker one never deviates off the straight line and the bounce was low and it was out. It was, at best, a 50-50 decision (both times) but you cannot complain with that. Youhana was out too. Only thing was height and I think it was again, 50-50. If you watch the Laxman LBW from the first innings, that was 50-50 too. You can see his middle stump when the ball raps him on the pads and therefore, it was possible that it was going down the leg side, just like with INzy and YOuhana (where the case was height). These decisions can go either way and they will be accepted, either way. Sachin's decisions (yes, both of them, at Mohali and here) were shockers. But Rudi is generally good and one bad mistake can happen. Bucknor has been consistently horrible. Geoff Boycott yesterday talked about how a lot of good umpires like Peter Willey don't do international games anymore as it would mean being on the road for all 12 months and they don't wanna leave their families. He basically implied that Bucknor was lucky to have done 100 tests and I think he was right.a10khan said:guyz relax...
just coz he gave one bad decision doesnt mean any thing. he's a great umpire and has had a great game. sachin shd relax as well. he got a big reprieve in mohali when he was at 10. ended up makin 94. thats how it goes. dont forget, inzy was given out lbw twice on two doubtful decisions, especially the 2nd.
OK, Mr. rules, there are a lot of things that have NOT been mentioned in the rules but they are still done in the spirit of sportiveness. A batsman of Sachin's calibre will most probably not say the light is bad unless it really is. So, there was a BIG CASE to consider it. And whoever told you that umpires don't consider batter's light requests juz because IT IS NOT IN THE RULES. And BTW, Bucknor himself admits that the light was fading fast and almost implied that his bad decision was because of that......ARGUE WITH THAT.marc71178 said:There is no provision for the light to be appealed though, only offered.
Considering the actual rules then there are no grounds to attack the umpires for it.
Sachin should get the same consideration as any other batsman. If it is offered he can take, it if not play on. Where was all the complaing when Sachin didnt walk in the first test off a big nick, give it a rest.honestbharani said:A batsman of Sachin's calibre will most probably not say the light is bad unless it really is. A big part of the complaining is because Bucknor bolloxed up on TWO COUNTS- wrong dismissal and not calling for lights.......Sachin should get the same consideration as any other batsman. C_C deal with it and stop being so melodramatic, tarting up his quote so you can vent your speen only shows what a poor sport you are . He never said it was dark, so get your facts right.C_C said:.......
Read his statement....he said that it was an error in judgement but lights were fading and it was dark...ummm. ex-FRICKIN-cuse me ?
But a player of you stature would have walked in the first test krishneelz and earned the respect of the umpires hwo would have simply taken your word for it if you didnt walk.krishneelz said:if i was out there i would have given the big finger and then walked off
