So what are the changes

Shaw for Vijay
Vihari for Kuldeep
No Kuldeep is a very odd call, especially considering Ashwin looks half fit. Probably the end of Vijay's career... Shame, he was excellent for a while and was lovely to watch.

Good selections but nether of them will feature in the coming 2 tests, provided KL doesn't flop hard in the next one. Dhawan isn't going anywhere, Kohli loves his LO buddies too much although tbf Shikahr did his job in this test & outscored Murali in the first test IIRC.

They have basically decided not to play more than one spinner - and Jadeja is a better batsman anyway.

Agreed. Without Bhuvi they can't afford to play Kuldeep as it would mean the worst lower order ever. To risky with this line up.

Imagine if Kohli had managed to steer India over the line in the first test, we'd be 2-1 up with Kohli having conquered English conditions. Seriously the best batsmen in the world. The last SA series and this England series Kohli's really killed it in bowler friendly conditions.

I just realized Kohli has 23 hundreds but only 18 fifties in tests :-O

Shaw!

Probably won't get a game but you never know.
If India lose the next test and the openers most notably Dhawan fail, then they may as well have a look. I assume that will be the logic of selecting him or they would have stuck with Vijay.

No. What I'm saying is when he had to bat for the team in the series with the game in the balance he has failed. The one time he's batted with no pressure he has succeeded.
When you are facing a team that wants 10 wickets to win a game then there is pressure. Buttler's innings is entirely valid. And his statement of pride is an indication of his desire to play for his country.

The man was interviewed just one day after scoring his first Test century. Of course he's going to take massive pride in it, win or lose.

It is honest at the very least. What else can you feel after your first test ton anyway? I'd have rather scored a duck in the loss?
