No reason to believe either haven't been working hard on their game.

Awful interview from what I've read. Very bad.

Yeah. I possibly exaggerated Pandya's failures. Played a good role in the only test match we won in England. But never gives confidence as some one who can consistently deliver with bat or ball. Adds value as ODI cricketer though.
Not really his role to be consistent, he is supposed to be more of a shock value player and inconsistency will always be there for such players. Rahul has been dire though.

If Pandya can improve his test match batting as a #6, he will contribute massively imo.

Jeez the team Australia has named for tomorrow is a low outfit.

I can understand the need to rest the likes of Starc, Hazlewood and Cummins given their recent workload, but when was the last time any of them actually played an ODI? They'll all plainly be picked for the WC, whether they should be or not, so they'll basically be going in without much white ball bowling for about 18 months to two years ahead of it. Also, why wouldn't htey rest Lyon from this series? Fmd you reckon the quicks must be tired, the poor ****'s arm must be about to fall off, he bowled that many overs.

Garry is certainly not the type that would ask for a rest, bloke doesn't mind bowling long spells, would never run off crying mid series like Swann

That may be so, but he’s of limited use in LO stuff anyway, whereas he’s head and shoulders the best test spinner we have.

Zampa would be way better than Lyon in ODIs. So would Agar and he can bat too. Dumbass selection IMO.

I like that they've gone with 7 genuine batting options (helps having Carey open I guess) but then 4 genuine tail-enders isn't ideal

Sorry, but selectors definitely have it in for Maxwell if the batting order in the press is to believe. Maxwell batting at 7 means he'll either have no choice but to slog every thing for a couple of overs or bat with a very long tail

Just to get the Aussie excuses out of the way before losing (again), please note that we have the following 'WC Starters' on ice for this ODI series.

Warner
Smith
Cummins
Starc
Hazlewood
Pattinson

Least he made the XI over Mitch Marsh
