Because a bowler cannot be adjudged among the 'best', not the best upcoming or the best youngest, but plain 'best' on basis of three series.

Has he played against Australia in Australia? SA in SA? Sri Lanka in SL? WI in WI? NZ in NZ?

He simply hasn't played enough yet to be considered anything more then a newcomer with potential. Unless your 'best' extends to 50 bowlers and judges people on the basis of fifteen matches played in three countries over the course of, what, four months? (in which case, the title looses all meaningfulness)

I am not basing it on anythign other than current form, and my current I mean as you say the last few months and in that case I see Sreesanth as one of the 'best' at this moment. If he can get a few wickets in these two matches then that will further my admiration for a bowler with so much potential.

Would he not make you 'Best XI' One Day team if you had to base it on 2006 form?

No, I certainly wouldn't. Form is temporary, class is permanent. If he is able to sustain his form over a large period of time (2-3) years, then yes, I will gladly pick him in my ODI eleven. Right now he probably wont make my top 55.

Form does not gurantee that a player will be able to perform satisfactorily in a game, skill does. Sreesanth still has a lot to learn and much to experience before he can even think about joining the ranks of players like Pollock, Lee, Akhtar, Bond, Ntini, Flintoff, Hoggard and Vass who are at the forefront of pace bowling today.

I didn't say Sreesanth was the best skill-wise. I respect your points but you seem to take form too lightly. Take this for instance...Bowler A is a guy who has been knocking around the fringes of the team for a while and he is brought in and takes 7 wickets in a game five games in a row with an average of under 3. Bowler B is a huge international with much experience at all levels but has been having poor matches taking no wickets for the past 5 games with an average of above 5.5. Which would you include in your side given the choice?

The problem with your hypothetical here (aside from the mixing up of ER and average ;)) is that it is a bad example. In practice, such extreme outliers are never found.
Balancing form against experience can be a pretty tricky thing. In the end though, experience usually edges out raw potential unless the difference is significent. I will choose a proven performer (decent but not dazzling) over a one-trick pony until the pony has succeeded in shrugging off the label.

I think it's sensible to have Akmal come in instead of Afridi. As much as I would like to see Afridi fireworks, right now why risk anything? Let Akmal give support to Yunis and coast to a win (hopefully).

And that's it. Pak win by 6 wickets. Great batting by Yunis. Irresponsible batting by the Indian lineup. Pak up 1-0.

I expect India to win the match easily, would be another thrashing for Paks.

India are on top of the game and Pak batting line has been struggling.Pathan and Santh will be too hot to handle for Paks, while as far as Pak bowling is concerned, they are dependent on just one man, a rookie in Asif.

2-0 would be a sweet result.:)
You were saying?

For those watching the game, was the stadium filled? Also, how did the stadium look? I haven't seen this new one yet.

The stadium looked half empty to me, to be honest. The grass-banks were well populated and so was the main stand, but the area around point, mid-wicket and covers looked very empty.

It's a very beautiful stadium. :) The pressbox and the pavilion reminds me a lot of Lords and the stands are pretty magnificent as well.

And why should that stop him being one of the top OD bowlers in the world at this moment in time?
Was his England series not a bit disappointing and only masked by picking up slog wickets in that one game?

Serves well for us to go to AbuDhabi and play an ODI series. I hope we lose the second one as well and Pakistan crushes us by 12 wickets.

I hear there are already talks for an ODI series in California in july this year. This tournament will be for the benefit of 1906 Earthquake victims of SanFransico.
