Preferred XIs: 1st ODI at Abu Dhabi

Sorry folks, I have a paper to write and I'm trying to avoid that by doing anything and everything cricket-related, so here goes, once again.

India
Virender Sehwag
Robin Uthappa
Rahul Dravid*
Mohammad Kaif
Suresh Raina
Mahendra Singh Dhoni+
Irfan Pathan
Ramesh Powar
Harbhajan Singh
Sreesanth
Munaf Patel

Yuvraj needs rest; Venu and RP have an A-tour coming up anyways; AA = blasphemy * e^bull****.

Pakistan
Shoaib Malik
Imran Farhat
Younis Khan
Inzamam-ul-Haq*
Mohammad Yousuf
Shahid Afridi
Abdul Razzaq
Kamran Akmal+
Naved-ul-Hasan
Iftikhar Anjum
Mohammad Asif

Pakistan should never play a specialist spinner in ODIs unless he can bat and field well.

adharcric your possible playing XI looks good, but i very much doubt INDIA would go into the match with no Yuvraj, he is our inform batsmen, i don't think they would take any chances of not playing him..

So IMO Uthappa is gone and dravid to open, while kaif stays in the middleorder..

Fine, play him in place of Kaif, but a Test prospect should open the innings. They can keep Kaif out for both matches. RP Singh for Munaf will be just right.

Oddly it is ZEE cinema showng both days of the match. Its a shame Sky didnt get the rights as they have really got a good line up of non-England or Aus internationals this year in both test and One Day cricket

If you are interested its a shocking £145 a year for the Zee channels

I'm dissapointed, a 2 match is hardly a series.Indian team has touced a purple patch and thay should have played a 5 match series.I don't think India has ever made a clean sweep of OD games, and had it been a 5 match series or even a 4 match one, the chances of clean sweep would have been very bright.

Hope to see a good contest.
its good to have a series finish at X-1 when at the end of the series your bench strength goes up by one or two. otherwise a 7-0 can follow with a 2-5 or sth like that. india's bench strength has played a big role in the recent success.

Two offies playing against pakistan not even a remote possibility. Bhajji will be out. Even powar may miss the team bus as pakistanis are known to play offies very well. india can rather play with 4 regular bowlers and add extra batsman in venugopal. And its Kaif who needs some rest and get his timing back. Yuvraj is in a super run
shouldn't be dropped

That's what I was thinking, I know a few possibilities but I don't think I can post any on the site as they're well, free.

Jesus, that’s obscene.
Is it really?

How many games do you get for that - I'd imagine it's a fair bit more than the Sky PPV season ticket for Football provides.

Add to it a heavy dose of Bollywood movies, and it's really cheap.

Of course it is, 142 quid for what? Sky have all of India's forthcoming test series and Pakistan's next two test series.
