*Official* - India in West Indies

the experience with duke balls in this series will also come handy.
I thought they used Kookaburra in the West Indies?

anyone who watched gillespie during the tours to India in 2001 and 2004 would never ever say this

this and a lot more things .... the two are not even remotely comparable IMO ... gillespie was a FAR more complete and better bowler at his peak
Tbf to Ishant he is only 22 and his peak has not come yet.

Just looked at Rahane stats an FC average of 67.72 O.o

He must be here instead of **** vijay
Except he is not a opener at FC level.

I am getting seriously worried about Dhoni's workload. The amount of cricket he has played as captain, keeper and batsman over the last couple of years is staggering and it's affecting his game. It might have been better to rest him for this test series. He hasn't contributed much anyway and he would have been in much better shape for the England series.
Should have rested during the IPL. I have absolutely no sympathy for him.

having said that, rahane looks a solid talent. whatever little I saw of him inthe ct, and some domestic, he has a compact and easy on the eye style of play. plays inside out to spinners with a flourish and can change gears pretty quickly as well.

think he should get a fair go.... in fact ahead of yuvraj in tests...
rahane's fc performances outside india, in eng he avgs 70 and in pakistan above 100, admittedly small samples, but he has adjusted quickly...
Deserves a go in the ODI team first.

Said time and again at the time but Selecting Manoj Tiwary ahead of him based on IPL was:wacko:
He can open if required in ODI's too. Is a busy accumulator type player who can play his range of shots.

Yeah Edwards certainly is never going to be the best bowler in the world but he has shown that he is a pretty solid and potentially destructive quicky.

Now if only they could get rid of that shunt Sammy...

Edwards
Rampaul (and Taylor when he comes back)
Roach
Bishoo

Makings of one of the better attacks around.
Rampaul over Edwards, imo as he gives them a different and more consistent option with Roach and Taylor around.

Taylor has to come in for Edwards.

He may have picked up a relatively easy 5er yesterday but when the pitch is doing something is too wayward to exploit. Rampaul is as close to a swing bowler they have got and moves it away from the right hander and has a even better record this year.

Edwards main weapon is the short pitch ball ,and Taylor and Roach use that a lot too.

It was given the innings and situation but it was only replay that it transpired it was a shocker from Rudi. This however was not out in real-time or anytime for that matter. I had it on mute but doubtlessly if Sunil was around, he probably thought it was a good shout.

Good to see Baugh play well under pressure. Was worried Ramdin might have to comeback. What to do with Sarwan and Shiv though? Chanderpaul faced 200+ balls this match and didn't even score 50 runs. Sarwan is gone, looks hopeless against anything on or around off-stump but Shiv is able to bat time but unable to score any runs. Maybe get Simmons down to 3 and recall Kraig.
There's no one to replace Sarwan with apart from Nash. Kraig is way too raw

Actually Rahane averages 70 in the Ranji trophy in 36 matches.

He has also played and done well for India A(In England) 60 average ,BP 11 (where he averages 113 with almost a run a ball ton against Australia) , West Zone (Averages 59.21 in a much higher standard of competition in 7 matches)

very happy for Bravo he's not a Lara by any stretch but with good discipline he can average 42-45 easily.

Needs the big innings before he really convinces me, or before I agree on the Lara comparison. I always thought, aside from the achingly good strokeplay, what really set Lara apart is that once he was making a score, he gave you nothing, it seemed as though you hadn't a hope of getting him out. Bravo Junior has got in and got out just a bit too often for my liking.

Bravo is to Lara in the same way as Rohit Sharma's style was somewhat reminiscent of Tendulkar when he came on to the scene early on. Lara was just incredible.

Sarwan dropped for the final test, Kieran Powell has been named as his replacement, so I guess Kirk Edwards would be coming in the playing XI

Squad : Adrian Barath, Lendl Simmons, Darren Bravo, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Marlon Samuels, Carlton Baugh (wk), Darren Sammy (capt), Fidel Edwards, Ravi Rampaul, Devendra Bishoo, Kirk Edwards, Kemar Roach, Kieron Powell

Was always on the cards. Not sure what's happened to Sarwan. In full flight he's so good to watch as well

Yeah, I had always liked watching him bat. Bleak prospects for WI turning the corner; with Gayle in the dog house and Sarwan in woeful form. Just as their bowling had begun to look sharp after a long while.

Yeah the batting is just woeful atm. I don't think they've crossed 300 this year and no one has scored a century. It's a shame, because as you rightly point out, their bowling is improving quite a bit.

Bravo isn't a smart cricketer yet. Last year in Sri Lanka he got out like a spastic a couple times after crossing 50. Has the most glorious cover drive though

GS how about bringing back your old avatar. This one is terrible and even after so many days I haven't gotten used to it

It's been the story of the West Indies for so long- when one gap gets filled, another two gaps open up. Thinking of what their lineup would look like if everyone was fit, in form and on good terms with the board at the same time is actually quite depressing.

Why don't the WICB and Gayle sort out their problems, he could be the difference between a win and a draw, or a draw and a loss for them. It's ****ing ridiculous.
