in front of who?, really i cant find a spot their. Maybe in Martyn's spot on current form.
Michael Clarke (last 15):
8, 34, 67, 16*, 9*, 1, 27, 80, 54*, 53, 1, 25, 7, 16, 54

452 runs for 12 times out = 37.66 average

Ramnaresh Sarwan (last 15):
17, 4 (these 2 innings played more than 8 months before his 3rd), 56, 14, 65, 42, 14, 55, 40, 54, 91, 2, 98*, 115*, 6

673 runs for 13 times out = 51.76 average

Note that innings against Zimbabwe and Bangladesh have been included, as your comment pertained to form.

I'd have Sarwan in front of Martyn, Katich (yes, I know Sarwan doesn't open in ODIs) and Clarke.

You could even make a case for Sarwan ahead of Ponting in ODIs - similar strike rates, but Sarwan's average is a fair bit higher.

well that not that surprising given the fact that Sarwan bats at #3 & Pup at #6, so its kind of unfair to compare them thats why i went for Martyn since he bats in the top 4 like Sarwan.

Is it so hard to believe that the West Indies have played well, rather than India have played poorly enough to make the West Indies look good.

When did I say that WI have not played well? I am saying its more than simply WI playing well. India have played very poorly, in addition to WI playing better than their usual.

Honestly, have you even watched the series?
Yes, I've watched every ball live. Aside from Harbhajan and Agarkar, all of our bowlers have been crap. Total garbage. Thats India playing poorly.

This is not to take anything away from WI, a team has to take advantage of the other team's poor play. WI have played very well, especially Sarwan. But its not just that.

Seriously, you'd have to be delusional to think that this result was purely due to the good play of the West Indies. They played well no doubt, but India was downright poor. I'm not sure if it was more Windies being good or India being bad, but they were both significant.

Spotted this on Cricinfo just now...

Highest ODI average (75+ matches):

MG Bevan - 53.58
RR Sarwan - 47.32
IVA Richards - 47.00
Sarwan's been hugely underrated in ODIs for a long time now, it's only recently that he's been getting some of the credit he deserves. He's consistently been among the best-performing ODI batsmen for years, but always seems to be overlooked. Bradshaw's another who doesn't get much credit at all.

It's irrelevant. Windies won.
If you don't have anything to contribute, don't bother. Everything we discuss on here is irrelevant by that standard since it doesn't change the result of a match.

Exactly, I am not trying to put down WI. But to say India played well but just lost to a better team is simply wrong. India might have lost to a better team, but a lot of it was their own doing.

Yeah India played so unbelieavably poor that they chased down a 5.5-6 rpo target in the 1st ODI, lost by 1 run in the 2nd ODI and got WI to get to the last over in the 3rd ODI. 8-)

They have performed MUCH worse before. A lot of series in early 2005 comes ot mind as examples.

WI was a team in disarray. #8. India were supposed to be "world" champion contenders.

I am so sick and tired of Dravid and Chappel's "learning curve' horse manure - I mean everything is a learning opporunity. When, if ever, do we get 'there' and be the winning team....

Dravid is Chappel's puppet and Chappel is a self-serving politician 8-)

And Irfan has declined in Chappel's tenure. As have Kaif and Sehwag. And the future is Sreesanth ? Give me a break.

Brian Lara can do no wrong (as a captain), gives the new ball to Wavell Hinds and the part time medium pacer gets a wicket.

Game in the balance here, West Indies coming right back into it.

With Gayle and Samuels bowling as they are, West Indies must have an outside chance at the World Cup?
