That was the most one-sided test I can remember for a long time.

Yes it was ridiculous to prepare a pitch like that for India, but the fact the debutant was the only one who looked remotely test standard tells you all you need to know.

This lot are really testing my patience. Not sure I can continue to watch if I don't see some fresh faces soon.

Yes indeed but frankly given the disparity in resources that should be the case and is nothing to boast about really. I don't expect to beat India, I just expected more than this.

That's a bit harsh mate ..
Nobody wants to lose badly on purpose , it's really tough to face spinners like Ashwin and Jadeja on a pitch that takes spin , even the very best have been made to look very silly ..Just that the spin duo were a class above ..Athanaze looks promising indeed , but lets be honest 47 & 28 is not enough to shame everyone else especially when so much time left to bat in the game ..He looked confident in his home ground but it wasn't something special like a Kyle Mayers double hundred in the 4th innings debut , there have been so many false dawns recently in Tests ..Darren Bravo , Hetmyer , Shai Hope etc ..
That maybe it's best to wait to see if the youngster can build on this going forward ..

I had similar hopes for Upul Tharanga when he came into the Sri Lankan team but sometimes these eye catching players can flatter to deceive .

Seales and Bonner were in a training squad but not selected for this test while Mayers and Motie are recovering from injury.

Lots of raw talent but our franchises don't pick under 23s to play so they have nowhere to go. Hence why the academy was such an important investment.

Would it be better to have an Under 23 side in First Class Cricket. Get the Academy playing some competitive games to enhanse their development
