ffs could they not have found a west indian correspondent or somebody who actually understands what is a very complex region to discuss this?

with the greatest of respect what the **** does wasim jaffer know about west indian cricket that puts him in a position to comment on this?

friendly reminder that cricinfo does not employ a single person to write and comment on west indian cricket on a full time basis. the biggest cricket news website in the world no less.

Thank you for pointing this out. Cricinfo is basically for India, Australia and England now with a huge bias towards India. The last time I learned anything new about West Indies cricket through their platform would have been well over 5 years ago. They offer absolutely nothing.

Yeah the West Indies coverage in particular very much stands out as people trying to explain WI cricket to people outside the WI (often poorly, lol). The coverage of other teams really doesn't have the same vibe - even the other non-big-four teams.

It's not like they couldn;t contract Mash or Santokie from CCP to do some analysis here and there, or Nikheil from Barbados. There are some very good broadcasters in the Caribbean, they just haven't prioritised coverage of our region. As ImpatientLime pointed out, having Wasim Jaffer commenting on what is a very nuanced issue is just tiresome.

It's is one of the reasons why various Indian media outlets/personalities thought it was ok to call for us to be disbanded so casually. They have no idea of the issues and complexities of the region.

i would love to see fazeer mohammad more out there but last i heard, he was just happy doing radio these days.

but yeah other than that, like @Beamer said the CCP boys are excellent. no one breaks down the nuance and complexities of west indies cricket as well as them. i find mash' attempts at being a bit of a statistician terrible but in terms of knowledge of the region they are right up there.

Yep agreed they cover all the layers. They will soon be covering regional pitches and umpiring, two critical aspects of our cricket that no-one talks about it any depth yet hold us back massively.

Considering that most of our home games are broadcasted on ESPN...it would have been wise for those people who are working at ESPNCricinfo to contact some of the West Indian commentators on the ESPN broadcast for their 2 cents.

In the Caribbean there is Reds Perreira, Fazeer Mohammed, Sean Devers, Mason, etc...

As mentioned, even the guys on CCP podcast.
