*Official* India in West indies 2023

Tough day for West Indies , great way for India to bounce back after the WTC loss .Still can't believe they dropped Ashwin from that decider , he's like one of the main reasons India got to the final in the first place.

India's day, without a doubt.

Some of the strokes played by the senior-most batsmen leave a lot to be desired. They knew what they getting themselves into. I hope they knew the level of difficulty that the Indian bowlers posed...so on practical purposes, they should have applied themselves appropiately.

There's a saying, play every ball on its merit...unfortunately for our batsmen, they had other plans.

Slow and steady wins the race.

This is actually a really big test match for us. After the world cup nonsense, another terrible batting display and a heavy defeat will have a huge impact on people's morale and motivation to continue supporting. We really need something, even if it is just one of the new guys scoring big runs.
Update on this after day 1.

7 out of 10 dismissals were to attacking shots. Captain and vice captain gave their wickets away needlessly.

Carry on like this and there will be no fans of West Indies cricket left by the weekend anyway! There is only so much madness we can all take and the last few weeks have been mental.

I felt for Athanaze. That was a long hop that deserved to go, he just got the execution wrong as it stuck in the pitch.

As you say, Kraigg and Blackwood are the real villains, those shots were just so bad.

Brathwaite and Blackwood hardly faced enough deliveries to go through with those shots.
They have played test cricket for too long now to know when to take calculated risks.

You take them when you are seeing the ball as big as a balloon.

As it gets to night over here, I ponder on how day 2 of this match will shape out to be...

So far our bowling hasn't posed any threats whatsoever. They wicket is deteriorating. Cornwall should be able to hit his areas on a consistent basis.

Test cricket this man...got to test these batsmen out.

It is interesting that India has never had a great left hand specialist bat. Kambli obviously had the ability and the stats (v small sample size) to be an ATG, and Ganguly, Gambhir, and Dharwan were all solid international players. No pressure on Jaiwal, but perhaps...

Home team missed Brooks & Hope. WI should atleast add extra batsman in their wings than All rounder. I am surprised that track on 1st day helped Spinners.

Why Cornwall bats after Joseph at #9?

Cong Ashwin for 700 International wickets. i am bit upset that Bharat better keeper left out but Kishan took 3 catches on debut Justified his selection.

yes they missed the guy who averaged 14 last year and the other guy who averaged below 20 in his last 3 years of tests and didnt play any test in the last year

but if there is one thing they need it is for sure more mediocre test players from Barbados
