Haha only three specialist bowlers in a Test match? May as well play Harbhajan if you think VRV will be just as useless as Pathan. At least South Africa are known to be poor against spin bowling (in general).

I'm pretty happy with a rabble of team that just beat South Africa by 123 runs in their own backyard. :D
Same.

Completely agree. He needs to go back to domestic cricket. He's horrible and doesn't deserve a place based on merit right at the moment. He was a very useful player, and he's not yet 30, so there is time for him to rejoin the team.

With that said..an opening combination of Jaffer and Gambhir does not exactly make me feel any better.

Gambhir and Akash Chopra, at least with that you can be fairly certain that one of them will see out the first over and give Dravid time to put his pads on.

True true... But the thing that really hurts is the fact that Sehwag has the talent to do wonders, he has the ability to win India matches, but he's just not capitalizing on it.

Does he? As mentioned in the article, I do not think he does when the pitches don't really allow for playing away from your body.

Yeah true we should have stuffed India, but the fact of the matter is we ballsed up, as we so often do in test cricket..

I wouldn't have sent Gibbs down the order, the man can bat.. I'd have sent Smith down

But then aren't talent and technique two different things. I mean he has the basic talent that is needed to excell, he just needs to tune his technique.

Eh? No. You can't seperate something like that. Its not like he needs to fine tune his technique, the whole thing is bollocks. When it works, its fantastic, but its unreliable.

Pretty big wake up call. Mind you I don't reckon there is anything wrong with Pathan's attitude, but that's sending a message right there. You're not even close Irfan to putting on the whites, not even close.

However its a good idea, he's going to play no part in this series obviously, and since he's a vital cog to our ODI side when he's in form, may as well get him some practice.

I hear the pitch is going to be a good one for the bowlers. "We'll have a bowl, mate?"

I always cringe when a captain elects to bowl first, but chasing targets is not as big a deal as it used to be, and if we can get wickets upto or maybe including Kallis early, it might be worth it.

What does this pitch usually do on the first couple days, anyone know?
