Century on the cards from VRV?
Why is the question mark in that post? I think you meant:

"Century on the cards from VRV!"

Anyway, I hope I don't jinx him. At the MCG today I sent two smses to a mate. First one said "Are we in for a KP special", next ball bowled by Stuart Clark. Then later I said "Monty century?", two balls later caught. :(

Definitely. We need it too, seeing as Kumble is clearly losing it at #8. Zaheer isn't bad either. No comment on VRV. :)
Haha it seems I have jinxed him. He played a really bad shot, too.

Conveniently ignoring the runs the SA tail got after you made that statement though ;)

SA all out for 270-280 isn't quite so far ahead of India compared to 328.
No - I said first day score was competitive because of conditions (8-260 or so)

Some nice cricketing shots from Sreesanth, dismissal was rather idiotic but his innings just illustrated how flat this wicket has seemingly become. And I think that partnership may have ended South Africa’s chances of getting a victory, light will play a huge factor in this game and with the flatness of the wicket South Africa were not be generous if they have the opportunity to declare.

Not to mention the batsmen in the South African lineup. They aren't really a "declaration runs" type of team.

If we take some wickets before tea, we can put them under pressure again and hopefully that leads to some defensive batting.

Love how the SA commentators keep harping on how things could've been different if Dhoni had been given out lbw. 8-)

SA wouldn't have made 300 either if a couple of the decisions were given when India were playing.

Agreed. Thing is, SA will never be able to take the light surely? Unless they want to pull an Australia at the Oval, Ashes 2005 and cost themselves the series. So no matter how bad it gets, you'd think unless its legitimately impossible to play, they'll bat on. Advantage to India there.

Anyway, well done by SA to restrict India after they were looking good with Sachin and Laxman at the crease. The Tendulkar and Ganguly dismissals in the same over was what changed the innings, but I can't help to think that the extra runs Dhoni/Laxman and Sreesanth/Laxman got India will be enough to get India by. But you can never be sure.

If India strike early it'll put SA on the back foot and you'd think they won't be able to score as quickly as they'd like.

Well he was stone cold dead (ala Cook, Hayden, Collingwood)... Also didn't Laxman get strangled down the legside whilst on single digits?

Exactly. Two wickets before tea would really put them a bit on the defensive. The last thing they want is for them to be all out and the total lead to be only around 200-250.

Well I'm not denying that he was out, just pointing out that the commentators barely mentioned the calls that went against India yesterday. Bias shining through IMO.

True. I'd like to see at least two of Smith, AB and Gibbs back in the shed early so to ensure they won't be able to get quick runs.

I hardly think Prince or Boucher are going to take the game away from India if they are in for a while. Pollock may, but they'd need a platform for him to come in and score.

Amla looks cool when he wears a helmet at short leg thanks to his beard, that's about the only thing he adds to the team.
