Gambhir is in, Jaffer out for next match
Well, Gambhir should be in. Maybe Jaffer/Gambhir opening, with Sehwag coming in a bit later? But then who would miss out? Both Ganguly and Laxman did well, and you can't really drop Dravid and Tendulkar.

So I guess you're right.

Gambhir and Dravid both retired hurt? Anyone know if they are OK?
I saw on the news here that the retired to give others a chance to bat. Not sure if thats true, but I don't see why they would lie about this.

I think Cricinfo just screwed it up... they probably just retired not hurt... to give the other players an oppurtunity to spend time out there.

hehehe yeah thats what it is.... they can play more than 11 players in this match since its not a FC match. Both of them declared the innings so other batsman can have a hit. You see this often.... don't know why it always says Retired hurt though. Probaly because only time you see players go off is when they are hurt other than when they lose their wicket.

LOL @ Cricinfo putting retired hurt. As others have said, its more then likely just 'retired'.

And LOL @ SS even mentioning the slightest possibility of playing both Jaffer and Gambhir.

Unlikely, true. As there is no one you can drop, aside from Sehwag.

Sehwag's more trusted and has more experience he's bound to come right and has shown promising starts here and there. If I was a betting person I'd say if anyone's being droped it'll be Jaffer:mellow:

Imo, I think India need to win a 2nd test....rather than defend their 1-0 thru draws (which I think is the wrong approach).

THe big question is, are they good enough (both technically and mentally) to do so ?

I think they are certainly skilfull enough to take out South Africa again but are they focussed enough.....?
They have squandered leads before when they should have gone for the jugular so it will be a big test for them.

I kinda hoipe they do it, it sure would be good to hear what sort of excuses and complaints Hingston will come up with then

The folks at Cricinfo have gotten into a habit of putting down retired hurt instead of retired for warm-up matches. Not the first time they did this.

That would be a terrible idea right now. Gambhir and Sehwag at Durban.
Perhaps if Jaffer was in form, but even then we have Dravid, Tendulkar, Laxman and Ganguly, none of whom should even be close to being dropped right now.

I'd play Gambhir over Jaffer.....Gambhir has some runs under his belt at least while Jaffer has very little.......

This could be the pivotal test....Durban is reputed to the quickest and bounciest wicket in RSA but Cape own might suit India....it will turn at Newlands and it won't be as bouncy.

I'm just hoping VRV singh isn't even in consideration, even if Munaf isn't fit. Bring in Pathan instead of VRV is Munaf isn't fit
