The series hasn't started yet. He wasn't selected as an ODI opener, and his ODI form needs to be decoupled from this Test form.Dravid said:No, not drop him. But he hasn't done anything this series. I would like to see him play in the test matches, but if Gambhir fails...not the other way around.
Cheers, what I meant.silentstriker said:Yea, I think so. And by Singh, it would be VRV Singh, not Harbhajan Singh.
The four day matches are kind of like tests, just not against a full side, and four days instead of five.silentstriker said:The series hasn't started yet. He wasn't selected as an ODI opener, and his ODI form needs to be decoupled from this Test form.
He in good form in tests. We'll see what happens.
Yuppers, so he has failed once after averaging 45 in his last five tests (including a double century).Dravid said:The four day matches are kind of like tests, just not against a full side, and four days instead of five.
Like I said, I never wanted him to get dropped. I just wanted Gambhir to play the first test.silentstriker said:Yuppers, so he has failed once after averaging 45 in his last five tests (including a double century).
So drop Sehwag?Dravid said:Like I said, I never wanted him to get dropped. I just wanted Gambhir to play the first test.
So "bench" Jaffer because he only averaged 45 in the last five tests? Or "bench" Sehwag?Dravid said:No, "Bench" one of them
Sehwag scored 181 in WI so you are going to defend him too aren't you?silentstriker said:So "bench" Jaffer because he only averaged 45 in the last five tests? Or "bench" Sehwag?
Nope, if anything I would bench him. But bringing Gambhir in for Jaffer would be ridiculous and quite pointless, considering he was given an extended run and was unable to convert his stats. And at this point, benching Sehwag is not an option either.Dravid said:Sehwag scored 181 in WI so you are going to defend him too aren't you?
He should, unless we subscribe to the ridiculous notion that you deserve your place in the test side.Dravid said:Gambhir better play one test, or I'm going to take SS's gun and shoot the selectors.
Gambhir will be in for the second test match...Jaffers a walking wicket.. wouldn't be suprised if the scorecard reads 2/10... Sehwag hits his usual 2 boundries than goes out either slashing at a wide one or the one that comes back in. Jaffer to go out first ball.Dravid said:Gambhir better play one test, or I'm going to take SS's gun and shoot the selectors.
Are you going to be watching it?Perm said:I am looking forward to this game tonight, hopefully it produces some high quality cricket.
Agree with every word.TT Boy said:Seems like there is no Pathan tomorrow, either VRV Singh or Harbhajan are competing for the last place with Singh currently ahead it would seem on Cricinfo’s preview. Good decision, Pathan’s batting may have been of merit recently but his bowling has been awful and far too much of liability of a bowler of his pace getting carried away with a little bit of bounce and just dropping short and getting killed all day by the likes of Kallis and AB, who were gladly pull someone of his pace with no problems. That’s one of the areas of concern with the Indians tomorrow the likes of Zaheer are not particularly good when dropping short, VRV can get away with it, bowls with a decent lick and looks pretty tall but you need to pitch the balls up to the South Africans, the vast majority of them are concrete feet cricketers and the best way to get rid of them is pitch it up.
Should be a good test match, fancy India to be a challenge and I'm not overly keen on South Africa's batting line up far too many of them are not in form. Could easily be a terrible start again for them tomorrow with Smith and Gibbs opening. Don’t think it would be awful for South Africa if India won the toss tomorrow and decided to bat first.
I sure will be watching it mate, for as long as I can stay awake anyway. Might have to have a couple of coffee's to keep the peepers open.Dravid said:Are you going to be watching it?
