Whatever it takes!!!
The news is not Virat dancing. But if anyone can concentrate, Dravid is dancing a step or two in the background too.
Batting…My eye starts twitching when there’s still two tests to go and people are talking about LO stuff.
so back to actual cricket, Ashwin still has to play IMO. If they insist on a five man attack, id bring back ishant over shardul. Or if we think his form isn’t good enough, then yadav.
Boovi kumar trundling at 125 kph is a sight to behold.. All hail the Trundlers. Avesh Khan is dropped from the squad lol who was so impressive in IPl. Dhawan a massive failure in VHT is picked ahead of Shaw & will likely open ahead of Gaikwad as well. Indian cricket at its bestwhy is bhuvi kumar still getting picked for one day cricket, he a medium fast bowler these days that adds nothing to the team.
Next in line should be Umesh.. Ishant got dropped in Oval & in 2nd test vs NZ. Umesh with his pace will be handy. Still can't get over that delivery he bowled to Root in Oval. Guy is gunMy eye starts twitching when there’s still two tests to go and people are talking about LO stuff.

They will take the call after seeing the pitch. Pollock said spinners haven't even bowled that much in Joburg in last few years. SA looks set to drop Maharaj & bring in Olivier I think... Or they can stick with him & drop Mulder. Thakur will surely play for IndiaHe is also wayward a lot. I agree, I’d go with four and an extra batsman but that doesn’t seem to be the thinking in recent times with the Indian management, so I would be shocked if that happened.
I think he’s the best choice atm especially given there’s no Shield cricket being played right now. Even though he is a pillow, of course.Mate, great question and obviously the right place to ask it. Thoughts on Khawaja @Burgey ?
It should be the man who had the 3rd best average for Australia last summer(twice Head's) and was the Man of the Match in the only match Australia won. Think how much more winning you could do with him in the team.Who do you guys think will replace Head for the fourth test?
Picking Dhawan was also ..inspired. if this is how it's going to be not much has changed since the previous coaching regime. Every period seems to have it's fascination for experience whether or not it's needed or required. Dravid also seems to like D chahar a lot, he didn't deserve being an automatic pick after the Nzl series imo.Boovi kumar trundling at 125 kph is a sight to behold.. All hail the Trundlers. Chahar in ODI's doesn't makes sense at all.. Bhuvi & Chahar are somewhat similar bowlers. At least for variety they should have added Avesh. I think lad has massive massive potential. Prasidh should have been in Test squad over Arzan I think. Don't like the way we handle our young quicks. Saini made his debut at least 2 years late & he was ripping through A sides in 2016. Now he is in his 30's. They will do similar to Prasidh & Avesh I think. Seniority culture is to blamePicking Dhawan was also ..inspired. if this is how it's going to be not much has changed since the previous coaching regime. If India really wanted to, they'd take out 2 of Rahane/Pujara/Kohli and replace them with Vihari and Iyer to have the flexibility of dropping Thakur for Ishant/Umesh. Ashwin stays in regardless IMO, I personally think he's too good to get binned for the likes of the underperforming trio in the middle who can't bat or bowl.Ideally I'd want 7 batsmen + 4 Fast Bowlers
Bumrah + Shami + Siraj + Ishant/Yadav (depending on form)
Ishant has the height which can add another dimension to bowling attack but might be bowling at 130-134 as he looks past his best. Yadav has that swing and pace to trouble batters but can leak runs at times
I really feel that India has to play with 4 front line fast bowlers in this game and they can add in Ashwin as well if they want 5 bowlers. But 4 proper fast bowlers is necessary. To cover for 4 fast bowlers with limited batting ability, it is a good idea to play a 7th batsman like Iyer or Vihari. The latter can bowl some spin too.
You can't have Ashwin at 7 and Umesh or Ishant at 8 though. The fast bowlers all being #11s is annoying. If India really wanted to, they'd take out 2 of Rahane/Pujara/Kohli and replace them with Vihari and Iyer to have the flexibility of dropping Thakur for Ishant/Umesh. Then you keep Thakur anyway. I wouldn't drop him anyway, just rotate Ishant/Umesh in with the other quicks. You can't have Ashwin at 7 and Umesh or Ishant at 8 though. The fast bowlers all being #11s is annoying.
