***Official*** India in South Africa 2021-22

The betting websites seem confident that it won’t rain for most the day it seems. India win still big favourites and the draw is over $3

their bowlers did well today restricting NZ b team to 147/7 including getting Devon Conway for a 2nd ball duck.
but their batting....yeah that's a major concern.
That wasn't a NZ B team. It was a team of promising youngsters (late teens/early 20s) who aren't in the major association 1st class teams along with Conway and Wagner for match fitness.

south africa not out of it, elgar still there and going strong, bavuma and de kock still to come plus decent lower order batting..

Having Bavuma still to come inspires nothing resembling hope.
Played some gorgeous drives in the first innings. His record doesn't matter in a smallish chase; he's in good form atm and will cause a few flutters in the Indian camp if he can give Elgar company.

The bookies have South Africa at a c8% chance to win which seems fair

Its not zero - they are in with a chance - but it would take an exceptional amount of luck on this pitch with this bowling attack and a c25% chance of a draw

On another note, for all the comments about this being a weak South Africa team, they look pretty solid. Elgar is a top opening bat, Markram has talent, Rassie is test class, Bavuma has underperformed but looks great, De Kock is De Kock, Mulder is an all rounder who would make most teams and the bowling is consistently decent.

Compare them to England and the onlyEnglish players who make a combined 11 are Root and Stokes. And Stokes more on history than current form

Elgar
Markram
RVD
Root
Bavuma
Stokes
De Kock
Mulder
Pick your three RSA bowlers

Which teams would Mulder make? Hardly any.
And Anderson would make a combined team.

No way are you picking three South African bowlers over Anderson or even Broad.

I would pick Mulder over Thakur for Indja. He would make any of the subcontinent teams and England. Maybe Windies. The only teams he doesn’t are Australia and New Zealand.

Anderson has his moments, Broad cannot even make a weak England team

You wouldn't pick him ahead of Jadeja and Ahwin though. He also wouldn't get picked ahead of Holder or Faheem for the Windies and Pakistan.

That's because Chris Silverwood has, uh, unique selection philosophies. The bloke has 550 wickets at 27 or whatever it is. He makes the SA team.

This is so wrong - I would love to hear the reasoning behind this that doesn't include the words 'talent' and 'youth'.

Mulder is young and has potential, but he has done diddly squat as of yet in the test arena. Thakur has played about the same number of games and has actually done some pretty incredible things, regardless of how ****/meme you think he looks.

Whatever it takes!!!
South Africa keep fighting all the time even when their batting does not have the experience and test match nous yet. I expect them to do well in the upcoming series, having been better for this run. NZ should watch out IMO.
